Ive recently been reading about this super bluetooth thing that lets people hack into phones.
A fortnight ago my phone appeared to have changed its text language to russian & my saved texts folder had been deleted so Im suspicious that someone has hacked into my phone,no harm done though,the saved texts were only a couple of email addys that I can ask for again.

The question now is has this person got permanent access to my phone ?
Does switching bluertooth off keep everyone out ?
Does having bluetooth set to hide phone keep people out ?

Any info is useful really as when I google it all i get is people trying to get me to download the programme myself from sites Ive never heard of & am not sure arent virus traps.

Its in your phone settings and security (depending on type of phone) if you havent changed it it will mean that its still set at the original code that is done by the phone and sim manufacturer.

Although im not sure that changing your PIN number will prevent anyone from getting into your bluetooth as it has nothing to do with it. Some phones do have a code that you have to match with the other mobile to conect with to transfer documents etc.

It has a lot to do with it. When you pair two bluetooth devices you use a passcode. Once connected you tell one phone to always accept the connection but that is based on the passcode remaining the same. If it changes the connection will be rejected or it will ask for hte passcode to be confirmed.

But the passcode is only saved with the phone that it is connected with and once connected it saves the device. Each time he connects with a different phone he could use a different code as it doesnt have to be same with each phone. If he deletes the devices that he has stored in his phone then they would have to be paired with the people he wants to again. Giving that his phone has the software that asks for the codes in the first place.

It remotely checks the password each time it connects. If the password is changed the protocol will not function correctly and it will request confirmation of passcode.

Ive never done anything about passwords or codes since I got it & the only bluetooth devices Im paired with are the wifes phone & this computer.
Im reasonably confident that by keeping Bluetooth turned off I wont get hacked again,but the rest of you be warned,dont leave your bluetooth on.

Keeping bluetooth turned off is as good as it gets in terms of security. It's a bit like not having an internet connection is a pretty foolproof way of not getting viruses.

I send/recieve stuff through bluetooth all the time and have never used a passcode

Then you have it disabled.

I always put the money in when the pips go.
