My attention was already drawn to it by somebody on here sometime ago and I've watched the aforementioned clip.

In my opinion, Charlie Brooker is the most miserable "merchant banker" ever to walk the face of this earth.

The episode of BBC's Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe analysing Britannia High.

The best part of that clip was where it ended.

That truly looks like one of the worst things that's ever been on television, loved "I'm a man" -no you're a 'lovely lovely person' "He's a man"- no he's a 'lovely lovely person' clappp

Yeah it only looks like that because Charlie Brooker portrays it like that.

How do you know that you definitely don't like something unless you try it?

Well, quite frankly, it was just better entertainment to have on a Sunday night when you're not doing anything rather than watch sleepy Heartbeat (which by the way has been on the air aince about 1992 and we still haven't moved out of the 1960s).

Honestly they try to come up with something that's good wholesome family entertainment and people don't think, like they should, "that's it can only be a good thing" - oh no, they think it's CHEESY!

What's up with that?

To be honest, I think that's a rotten attitude. I think people should be told: just "Shut up, enjoy it and watch."

I've never had sex with a man, I'm 100% percent sure that I wouldn't like that.

If I had mind I'd probably love Britannia High.

I haven't seen it.

Just knowing you like it is enough for me not to watch it cos i know it will be awful.

Well, it looks like on this, like on many other occasions, we'll have to appear to agree to disagree.

But, it doesn't mean to say you can't disagree without being disagreeable though.

Well this is what i base my argument on...

You like Britannia High, Eurovision, that stupid programme with famous people in an aeroplane, cabin idol or summit.

I don't like any of them.

So if you like it the chances are i will not.

Well, I think I gave up watching CelebAir in the end because I was too busy at the time to watch all the episodes.

Britannia High, now thanks to the Controller of ITV, has been already axed.

Well, putting aside the fact that I watched Britannia High for a minute, I think there are verfy few people who would find his sense of humour funny.

No wonder his show is on BBC Four. Nobody hardly watches BBC Four.

Well let's just hope he does get better, and then we can see it on BBC One in the near future.

Please don't confuse popularity with quality - otherwise you'll get Simon Cowell all over television on a Saturday night... :uhoh:

My oldest son is a big fan of Charlie Brooker, and I think I will go with him on the quality of humour he brings to TV with his work.

He isnt a misreable git as you say he is thinking what everyone with half a brain cell is. The programme is a rip of one of the worst films of all time high school musical, there is a token black street kit, posh girl, some twonk with bad hair. All of who sing cheesy stuff and say things like "my life is at the bottom, I am here to look to the top"

These are the kind of kids at school/college/uni that everyone else hates and if you dont know anyone who fits this mold in your current life POK i have news for you, this person is you.

Charlie Brooker's stuff on BBC4 is some of the cleverest material on TV at the moment in my opinion. You should read his weekly column in the Guardian slating TV each week - brilliant (I don't read the Guardian by the way just bought CB's book which is a compilation of the articles  ) Look some of them up

I do admit it wasn't a fresh idea at the time and I do think it was the recent success of the High School Musical franchise that meant the series made.

But I'm not one to argue about that. If they put on a series that I think I'll watch, I'll watch it and ask questions later.

Why exactly, can I ask, are these seemingly kids that "everyone" hate ?

Surely one could argue that we are persuaded to watch it becuause we want to follow them in their pursuit of their dreams of maybe wanting to become famous through whatever their talent, something of which surely everyone has dreams to aspire to something better and that is why everyone could be attracted to this series.

Surely everyone has dreams, therefore everyone has the ability to connect with that whilst they watch a show like that.

I think songs in some way have got to be "cheesy" in some way otherwise they don't pull the punters in.

Every commercially sold music track has something which draws the punters in - normally something "cheesy", a hook in the music.

It's what people do on here when they have given up hope.

We're sat shaking our heads, words can not sum it up.

So we turn to a picture, and a picture can say it all.

Yes, but the Guardian, for Pete's sake...

I remember once I read an article in there from a feminist who was criticising Bond films because she believed that they promoted the domination of men over women in a male-dominated society sort of thing. I mean, come on....

How can you criticise Bond films? They're classic.

And I don't actually here too many women complaining about the role of women in Bond films.

Right, it was me that posted it up, and you're blatantly a massive doyle for not liking it. The man's an absolute genius and an asset to journalism. Watch some of his stuff. I dare you.

I'm genuinely in awe that you can't see the funny side. I'm not even kidding. Do you even have a soul?

EDIT: I'm impressed with the positive reviews of Charlie Brooker - very surprised. Get his books - you can pick them up for very little at the mo, they're absolutely genius...

No wonder his show is on BBC Four. Nobody hardly watches BBC Four.

Because everybody can't understand the genius on there because they're too thick. I thought you were a bit of an idiot but quite intelligent. You evidently don't watch the only BBC channel worth looking at any more, so you're now just an idiot.

I fear for you. In life, generally.

Another edit: Ian Hislop, when Brooker was on his team, described him as the "most intelligent man to ever be on my team". Did I mention he was a huge left-winger? Maybe that'll slide it to you...

POK's TV life stops at BBC3

BBC4 in my view is worth the licence fee on its own

I watched some of the first episode of that purely because it's about New Zealand musicians and my cousins are from New Zealand - but then, I couldn't get into it. I might watch it again sometime.

I don't just watch BBC3.

I like watching other things, like Skins,The West Wing, Have I Got News for You, Ashes to Ashes, Robin Hood. I thought the recent remake of Reggie Perrin was really good and I really like this new comedy on ITV, Mumbai Calling.

I love it when people mention The Guardian and then say 'I don't read it, I just...' There's nothing wrong with reading it. I get it every day and it's a right good read. Any other Guardianistas out there?

P.S.

Charlie Brooker is one of the funniest people on TV.

I don't read any papers due to their political bias one way or another, I meant that you can pick up the columns in his books or on line easily without reading the newspaper itself......

It's a smarter quality newspaper than the Daily Sport, but some of the things their columnists write are totally rubbish in my opinion.
