Whilst de Burgh from Lady in Red onwards is truly truly awful I would argue that his real early stuff, Spanish Train, Crusader albums are, in my humble opinion, very enjoyable.

in regards to the original post, cheryl cole has proved she can sing solo very well when she took part in pop idol the rivals or whatever it was called. She definately not just in girls aloud for her looks...

This isn't a can't stand... more of a 'I've tried repeatedly but I just don't get it'

I was born in 1970 so my serious listening to punk came 5 years after it happened. I really like the Pistols album and most things punkish. My favourite band for 25 years has been The Fall.

But I just don't get the reverence , nay worship, from people (whose musical judgement I trust on everything else) for The Clash.

Amongst the people I know who like proper music every single one of them who are 40+ love/worship Strummer and went into mourning when he died.

I love Big Audio Dynamite which came out of the ashes. But try as I might ,when I listen to the albums I just don't get it. Dull punk with guitar so dull that it would embarrass the early Manic Street Preacher, followed by whiteboy cod reggae.

As for bands I despise : Queen, Simply Red, UB40 - nightmare 80's music for people who don't like music.

I love the Smashing Pumpkins. I could imagine he'd be a prick like, but I can't get enough of his band.

I used to despise a lot of bands, but now I can't be arsed. Some of the new drivel like Scouting For Girls and The Feeling get on my nerves but that's about it. Kanye West is probably the closest I get to hating someone, not a patch on Wu Tang or anything like that.
