If I was as committed as the players today I wouldn't write a match report as I couldn't be arsed. It was diabolical and with the exception of possibly Nelson I think the players need to take a long hard look at theselves and ask what they'll be doing next season when the football is on.

Cheltenham were a typical Allen team with a lot of tall/big lads putting in fair amount of effort with very little skill or class. Our response was play hoof ball towards a front three of Mackay, Porter and Parker who were all 6 inches smaller than the guys that were on them so we lost a hell of a lot of possession. I doubt that anyone knew what the tactic was meant to be because we never really threatened in the first half. They went ahead with a soft penalty which was at the other end so I couldn't say wheter it was a pen or not but it didn't look to be in a dangerous situation. Once again ALB dived to one side when their man ran up to take it allowing him to pass it down the middle. He needs to be told to stand up for pens and at least make it harder for the taker. Porter looked like he didn't want to be there. His touch was awful, his body language was negative and most unJoel like he wasn't even closing dowm. Mackay had the wrong boots on and couldn't keep his feet.

Second half was a little brighter with a disallowed goal and a couple of strikes on target. The only positive was the performance of Foley when he came on for Porter. Second goal their lad was allowed to turn on the edge of the box and despite having 2 players on him got a shot away into the bottom corner.

At the final whistle the players didn't come to close to a good sized away support due to the faithful letting them know what they though of the awful performance. We may well have the opportunity to vists Whaddon Road next season because on today's performance both teams deserve to go down.

ALB - 4 made a couple of regulation saves and kicked ok but made the pen too easy for the kicker
Liddle - 4 played right back
Nelson - 6 looked like he cared and took a couple of bangs to the head for his troubles
Collins - 4
Humphreys - 2 sadly not good enough any more. You have your heart in your mouth everytime the ball goes his way
Sweeney - 4 nothing of note in midfield
Clark - 5 nothing of note
Monkhouse - 5 the only real threat but didn't link up well. The usual yellow card
Mackay - 2 no studs on his boots and did nothing
Porter - 2 (0 in the first half) worst game I've seen him have in a Pools shirt
Parker - 2 very dissapointing

Foley - 6 only player to run at the opposition with the ball on the deck. Had one good shot on target
Robson - 4 very short run out

Turner/West - 0 they sent out a team without shape, no game plan and no desire

Mackay is no good at anything apart from falling over and getting caught offside.
