Yup, hoping to get as much time off work around that time as I can and get over there.

I was in Germany for some of the tournament in 2006, which was great - but I'd love to go over for the whole thing in South Africa.

Tickets are starting to go on sale at the end of the month too - hopefully it won't be the debacle that it usually is!

I have only been to one World Cup, Italia 1990 and I paid £60 per ticket back then and they were official tickets via the FA. Fook knows what they will cost next year banghead

I mulling it over if got anyone to go with, it a treat for myself out of my golden handshake, but seems a few off here going so may try and join up with a couple. Only problem is I reckon everything from flights to accomodation will be top prices.

So if that falls through I thinking of Australia in 2011 for a couple of the ashes cricket games.

It's like the wild west in S.A. so it won't be held there, safety of the players and fans cannot be guaranteed. Contingency plans already in place for it to be held in England

It would be like holding the world cup in Afganhistan

tis true, the safety is a real big problem a lot of the places you cannot walk about its far to bad. The stadiums are far behind and the rail links are not up to scratch.

When i was there i was in a proper tourist resort and on the night you didnt stop at lights you drove through

South Africa does not have the infrastructure to hold such a Massive competition. The average South African football fan will not be able to afford a single ticket to go and watch the matches and when you think you can be killed for a cigarette there, what do think they would do for football tickets.
It isn't like Germany you know, you will not be able to just camp out.
The locals will eat you for breakfast
