Was talking all day to me about Southampton who he follows and how much he dislikes the new ground that is half full each game and his team have won only one home game all season.

He decided to go to Pools and was unsure where to go how to get there and so on as he is VIP client, with some huge help from nameless people in the club, they arranged with no notice at all for him to gather his ticket at the reception so he felt important and respected.

Now he's be a Saints fan for years but loves his football too and he opted to stand on the Millhouse Terrace and stayed near the fans who stand around the 18 yard line near the Rink End.

He loved it.

'Great banter where I was stood'

'Pools had cup hangover first half'

'Humphreys was class'

'Must have had a roasting at half time'

etc ad infinitum

We had a good chat about it today and what he liked best was everything. The ground, the program, the pitch, the fact he could STAND, the swearing, the laughter, the fact he could walk along to the other end at half time - although he decided to stay where he was for the banter.

He may need to come up again the week after next and I reckon hell stay over the friday and go on the saturday v walsall.

So

(1) thanks people in club for making him just feel that little but special

(2) thanks to all the poolies for making him remember what football used to be and should be. It's more than a business and it's more than a game.
