I saw Stan Bowles play against Pools in 1971, Crewe weren't very good, but my memory of the game is off Stan tearing us apart on his own, in a 2-0 win. Although the facts seem to point out that it was close until late on in the game. sctatchinghead

I saw Jimmy White about 5-6 years in a tournament against Andy Hicks and like you I was looking forward to watching him but he was awful, his highest break was 26 some of his missed I'd have knocked in. So I wish I'd seen him in his prime!

Others I'd have loved to have watched;

Best
Pele
Bradman
Sobers
Tommy Sword

typos are the easiest thing to happen in a first publication.
I write batch records and standard operating procedures, and each one can be over a hundred pages long with many operations contained. There is bound to be the odd error,especially writing from scratch. These get picked up on hopefully, and when the next revision comes out the corrections plus any new additions are inserted.I then have to insert the reasons for the updates!!
In a book there only needs to be a covering note at the front of the book explaining the reasons for the new publication - probably in about another 10 years time there will be a need for the next edition - but it's fairly obvious that the year should read 1968 not 58. Anyone who's ever written anything will realise how consumed you become with the task in hand, and the odd typo is inevitable.

Talking of Mohammad Ali I watched 'Thrilla in Manilla' the other night. Its about his three fights with Smokin JOe Frazier - an excellent and very revealing documentary, did anyone watch it?

Yes, Zidane is another one of mine, too.

One of the sportspeople I'm glad I DID see was Andrew Flintoff, at the Riverside, who was pretty stunning to watch. (Tho my view was restricted by two young women in front of me, who kept leaping about trying to take photos of him. The bits of the young women that were covered up seemed to be wearing disco clothes. sctatchinghead )
