Just been to see the lads train. Spoke to Willie Boland and it doesn't look like he's gunna be back until next season after complications. He also mentioned Joel didn't train at all last week due to an on going problem with his achilles.

Was good to see Matty involved there today too, hopefully he's gotten over the flu.

Team for Sat:

Budtz

McCunnie Nelson Clark Richie

Foley Liddle Sweeney Matty

Mackay Joel

Ideally, I'd try this especially for away games:

Budtz

Nelson Clark Collins

Sweeney Jones liddle richie matty

Mackay Joel

What does everyone else think?

I didn't discuss anything regarding that mate. No better ball winner in our team than him.

No arguments there, but he's about as much use as i am to pools at the moment cos he's just injured all the time.

That sounds about right to me, pack the midfield (which for me has been our weakest point last few games). Hope porter is fit, cant see where our attacking play will come from if he doesn't make it for saturday.

Porter needs a rest because of his injury but it's hard to see how he will be left out

I'm not a fan of monkhouse at the minute to be honest, however I do like that experimental formation appley. Can Joel play up top on his own though? I think he's brilliant turning and running at men. How I wish we still had Barker (can't believe I just said that lol).

I just hope, even though for that money we should be able to voice our frustrations there and then at the Vic, that we do get a 7,000 attendance and really get behind them. We could do with a cup run to get some much needed cash, you never know what could happen.

Cup run (with lucky draws) = more money = financial stability = hopefully money for transfer targets = NO PAY RISE YOU GREEDY BUGGERS LOL.

BLUE ARRRRMY!

Let's check this:

Budtz - right position? yup

Nelson Clark - right positions? yup

McCunnie Richie Foley - right positions? well yes, kind of

Liddle Sweeney Matty - right positions? yup, most definitely

Mackay Joel - right positions? yup again

Sounds reasonable to me

After Saturday's debacle I reckon we should try;

GK Lee-Barrett
GK Budtz
GK Cook
RB McCunnie
LB Humphreys
CB Nelson
CB Clark
CB Collins
CM Sweeney
CM Jones
CM Liddle

Playing Mackay against Stoke would be a total waste of time, we might as well start with ten. He's out of his depth and always out muscled in League One, it would be embarrassing and painful to watch how Stokes defenders would eat him alive we'd be better served packing the midfield.

George Wood

McCunnie
Clark
Nelson
Humphreys

Jones
Sweeney
Liddle
Monkhouse
Robson

Porter

Mackay..... do you get to many Pools matches then??

I know its all about personal opinions and that, but he is way out of his depth at this level

Try Andy Monkhouse up front?

Richie Humphreys up front.
Signed as a striker and has played at high level and can win headers

Aye, remember he couldn't score a goal with Watson lol.
Either way its gunna be more interesting than the match by the sounds of it with this team selection.
One thing is for CERTAIN, ALB will not be starting in goal. You heard it here first, only thing is I DON'T pick the team unfortunately!

If he plays upfront on his own it will be exactly the same as playing with Mackay, who's a Blue Square North player not even close to being on the same wave length as a player like Joel who has enough off to hold the ball up and bring others into play. I seem to remember a quite decent goal at Elland Road in the League Cup when he was a lone striker.

Mackay against Stoke would be laughable, I'd rather see Nelson or Collins up front! In fact I'd much rather see David Foley in his natural position up front. He did alright against West Brom earlier in the season, he actually did very well in fact and has barely had a minute up front since. Whatever people say about Baby David he's a better footballer than Mackay.

Monkhouse wasn't up front in my formation but playing as an attacking midfielder behind Joel

Foley upfront with Joel for me. Budtz in goal and Collins left back.......

....in the changing rooms.

I would play 4-5-1

Budtz

Mccunnie, Nelson, Collins, Humps

Sweeney, Liddle, Clark, Rowell, Robson

Porter

maybe swap Sweeney for Rowell but with Sweeney and Robson out wide, we might actually have wingers who go past the opposition full backs, which hasnt happened in the last two games
