Just been listening to a debate on the DNA system and a chief of police from London said that criminals are now targeting people.
They pick up cigarette butts. chuddy. paper tissues that have been disguarded and when they commit a robbery or burglary they leave them behind and if you are the unlucky one that has your DNA on the chuddy you were at the scene of the crime and bang to rights.

Look at it this way: if a chief of police has admitted it, that's a pretty heavyweight argument that can be used by every defence lawyer in the country.
The days of DNA as evidence would seem to be numbered.

That was said also if you drop these things at a scene of crime it could be a contaminated crime scene and usless in a court of law.

The police in Wales have more than 64,000 samples of children aged 10 to 17, regardless of whether they have been convicted or even charged for an offence or not. I've also had one FPN in the past (when I was younger and stupider) for the crime of not walking away from the police when I should have, and then had my DNA taken. I was not charged or convicted of any crime, yet they can hold the most sensitive information about me indefinitely. I see it as an invasion of my privacy and an example of this database state we happen to live in; it's not as if the Government or the Police have the greatest record over keeping people's personal details safe, is it? Therefore, I was happy to see the European Court of Human Rights has ruled this illegal, and even more happy that it'll stick one to possibly the worst Home Secretary we've ever had, Jacqui 'Jackboot' Smith.

If they want your DNA they get it. no ifs no buts. If you haven't done out wrong then it shouldn't matter. The scary thing is how easy it would be to stitch somebody up, I've had many many bloods taken, I don't know where any of them are now though.

I watched a program on one of the Sky channels a few weeks back of a doctor got accused of raping a woman, the clever twat implanted a small sealed tube full of someone else's blood under the skin of his arm.

When the police called round he offered to take his own blood sample for DNA testing which they agreed to, when the results came back he was of course cleared. The victim had friends in high places and after 6 months she managed to get the police to take a new sample, the doctor didn't expect a return visit and the new sample matched.
