Can anyone explain what an employee of the BBC has to do to get the sack? I think the conduct of Jonathan Woss and Russell Brand were by any stretch of the imagination disgusting and disgraceful. There does seem to be one rule for the rich and one for the others. Sack the talentless pair and save licence payers money. Bring the chat show maestro Parky back and get rid of five poofs and a pratt taz

You beat me to it. I was going to ask Bunkerites if they think Ross, Russell Brand or Lee Evans is actually funny? I think Ross is amusing at times but Brand and Evans (who had nothing to do with this hilarious prank) are about as funny as a sore cock.

I'd sack the pair of them purely for being as camp as a load of pink tents with the word CAMP written on them and arranged in the shape of a penis.

Not only that, it was so puerile that none of the 12 year olds I know would even have considered it. Unabridged tackiness

This was actually aired two weeks ago and didn't receive any complaints at the time. It was a prank phone call there are far more important things going on in the world I can't believe the way things in this country seem to just get blown out of all proportion by the media, this is similar to that Big Brother race row. You watch they'll be talking about this in the commons, you can almost guarantee it banghead

Whatever you think of Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross it's just ridiculously over the top the way people are going on.

My point PJ is the fact Brand isn't funny and Ross is on £6m a year. Obscene for licence payers.

It was intended as a prank phone call, it was offensive and out of order. But You'd think they've gone around the guys house and stabbed him the way some people are going on.

It wasn't even a live show, it should never ever of been aired. The editor or producer of the show wants bulleting, and they need to apologise properly. It's doesn't warrant anywhere near the outrage it's recieved, what next burning effigees?

I think that's part of the point, tho......that the BBC is being progressively dumbed down to this sort of level. There may be more important things to worry about, but the BBC's letting go their responsibility for thousands of people's viewing is still pretty significant?

yep I like brand.can't say the same about ross.
like PJ poolie already said there were only 2 complaints at the time and they were about the swearing not the phone calls.
Bearing in mind that brand's podcast is the most listened to in the uk.
Andrew sachs didn't complain until the daily mail phoned his agent to ask him, maybe he's got a book to promote or summit.
anyway anything that pisses off the daily mailers is fine by me.

Ahhh, the Daily Mail I see rolfl

What pisses me off is the media whip up a sand storm people hear half a story and then start going off on one instead of talking about things that really are important in life.

But this didn't need anyone to whip up anything.....Ross has already apologised, so it really happened

As stated earlier this call was made two weeks ago and aired ten days ago. They've apologised (and rightly so) after the media have made a massive issue of it. Why didn't this all kick off ten days ago when two people complained about the language used to OFCOM?

I accept that, PJ, but the original post was about the event not the media hype. I heard about it myself only yesterday and not from the Daily Mail.
The point as far as I'm concerned is that the BBC think it's OK to sanction this sort of thing. The fact that few people comlpained at the time probably means that the public are so used to this sort of thing that it doesn't register as offensive...which is one of the worrying things

Perhaps we should stop complaining about extreme messages from muslim clerics since we don't complain at the time and only react to press comments.

Brand needs to decide if he's an edgy comedian or not. He keeps making controversial jokes, but has no courage to back them up and keeps issuing apologies for them.

Ross is a very good interviewer / presenter when he wants to be & is genuinely intelligent - but he keeps tring to be a jack the lad comedian. He needs to decide what he wants to be.

Thought when you have their money - there is no need for them to change.

What they did was neither big, nor clever - wasn't even amusing...

They should be sacked for being unfunny, and not for being rude - And they can take Chris Moyles & George Lamb with 'em

Have you ever thought that while the quicksand is consuming the UK, this might be what the RAF called 'Window,' strips of alumnium foil, which they used to drop to confuse the radar??

Civil servant: 'Quick we need something to say loudly so the thick taxpayers will get distracted while we shove interest rates up...'

Director General of the BBC, Already: 'Got the very thing, Wossy and Bwandy, made some disparaging comments about an out of date actors grand-daughter three days ago, we'll go big on it, meshuginnah......' :coool: :coool:

Cue a three page thread even on here, my life.... rolfl rolfl

Now Mr. Brown has weighed in, calling the behaviour inappropriate.

I think they should both be disciplined, but that's because I hate Brand and I don't know about Ross.

Looks like it could bubble on for some time.

It's a massive over reaction fuelled by the media however it did happen and there are parts of it that concern me.

It isn't that long ago that we had a big to do over school kids bullying by text message and answerphone messages. This seems to me to be very similar. They basically rang up an old man and left him messages about one of them shagging his grand daughter. Apart from being purile nonsense, its bordering on illegal.

I don't agree with people like Ross being paid £6 million a year out of our pocket so he can come up with this sort of infantile and offensive prank - ditto for that pratt Brand who will no doubt be on a similarly offensive salary. The BBc should have higher standards or they will end up like ITV!

In the grand scheme of things its relatively unimportant but...ringing a 78 year old man 4 times and leaving messages suggesting that you'd f....ed his g'daughter and that furthermore he ( Sachs) might commit suicide as a result is a pretty unpleasant.

Also Andrew Sachs as Manuel can confidently lay claim to have got more laughs in his career than the pairing of Ross and , especially , Brand combined. He seems a pretty unworthy recipient of such an arrogant , seedy and unfunny attack.

The BBC wont sack Ross but will quietly get rid of Brand at the next opportunity.

Well done Pools tonight.
