I know ALB has a few admirers on here but he just isnt good enough! rage

I was not at thew game last night but just saw the goals. The guy is a clown. We will never do well in this division with him there. As much as we moan about the right back and left back positions the addition of a decent keeper who inspires confidence in the back four would pay dividends!

It's what I thought at the game last night and TV confirms my thoughts, he should have tipped both the second and third goals over the bar. You couldn't get a sheet of tracing paper under the lads feet when he jumps.

He's still learning his trade, he's very raw. In his whole career, he's only played under a seasons worths of first team game and half of them were for Weymouth.

He's not the finished article, he's a lot better than Butdz though. In an ideal situation we would have an experienced decent keeper like Dimi at the club who he could learn from but we don't and I doubt we'll get one.

On the positive side, at he's gaining experience and hopefully he will learn from his mistakes and keep improving. He's already a lot better than last season.

I agree with a lot of the above sentiments from chip and Daniel. The lad isn't rubbish and I think he can get a lot better. He's already made great strides since last year if you think to the slightly overweight lad with a 'shan do' who we signed. He must have worked hard. At the moment though he isn't good enough to be our first choice outright he concedes do many were you think "he should have saved that". He's competent in the sense that he doesn't seem prone to absolute howlers but at the same time he doesn't look like someone on his day could make a succession of saves that got us a result that we might not deserve.

you fcukers make me laugh, you really do.

i knocked barratt last season, but can say without doubt he's improving all the time in his handling and confidence.

i wasn't at the game like a lot of others who are pontificating, but have just seen the goals on the link provided.

first one was a good finish after fookin woeful defending.

second one was a fookin freak and he's tried to save it once as it hit the bar. whn its fallen to Lurch, he's on his arse. He's have to be Inspector Cuntin Gadget to save that.

third one even goddamn freakier. intended as a cross miss hit and unluckily for us, unsaveable

we ain't getting another keeper, fookin get over it and support the one we've got who is getting better all the time

can anyone tell me which goals against oldham he was 'responsible' for ?

perhaps your dazzling beams of footballing knowledge and criticism should be directed about 18 yards further forward, based on the evidence of the last 180 mins. stpid

He wasn't at fault for any the goals against Oldham. The third last night went straight over the top of his left shoulder and it wasn't a miss hit Robinson went for goal. It wasn't as if it sailed miles over the top of him either, he's a tall lad and should not have been beaten at his near post like that.

There have been many occasions this season where shots have gone straight above his head, some ending up in the net, some hitting the bar, but all of them should have been saved. He is not some midget and if he aint capable of getting his positioning right and getting to shots which are just above his head then it is seriously concerning.

Yes, hemay have improved a bit, but he is still not good enough at this time. We do ned better if we are to stop conceding so many goals.

peej (i feel i can call you that by now), you normally talk a lot of sense, but that's cobblers. the third goal was utterly unsaveable and a complete mis-hit. i've just watched it seven times on the trot and would challenge most keepers to keep it out. the bloke's at full goddamn stretch, for daly's sake

Jesus...some people has anyone ever played in goal. In my view he was at fault for none of the goals last night.

First was Collins fault no if or butts, ( but he has been our best player this season)
second if he was about 7ft 6 he mite of caught it but as he is not and from where it was hit there was not much time for a reaction save and it could have went anywhere when it came back of the bar.
The third whether or not he ment it he should have been closed down earlier instead of been left to run into the box.

Like someone said its further forward we need to be looking if people want to look for 'ESCAPE GOATS' rolfl rolfl

the fact is Humphreys was skinned alive for the third. Mr I is spot on about him when it comes to quality opposition. Why should we only be able to cope against what Cheltenham has to offer?

i'm sure i will get slated off the usual lot but i agree with you. I have just watched the goals and find it hard to believe that ANYONE can suggest he was at fault for the 2nd goal. And the 3rd, well it was a complete fluke, whether or not he could have saved it i'm not sure at that angle.

I'm not sure the winner was a fluke, it beat him at his near post and ended up in the far corner.

He may well might have only 1 clean sheet in 20 but you have to look at the Defence for that aswell!!!! confised confised

PS....I know you have!!!! :uhoh:

I still dont get how he is improving. He has been at fault for around 7 goals already this season. He wasnt that bad last season.

I still stand by the fact I think Budtz is a better keeper.

No goalkeeper will produce good stats without a solid defence in front of him. Dimi was a good marshall of the defenders which is one of the key reasons for his success here.

I dont expect him to produce good stats, i expect him to save simple shots. Anything above eye level and he simply cant save it. If we carry on with a keeper costing us at least a goal a game then we will go down.

Budtz was a clown who made some horendous errors but at least he had a few games where he produced some quality saves..... If we continue to concede goals the way we are then I would have no problem with dropping ALB, I would prefer us to get someone decent in on loan or in january than play either of them though.....

Did you not see budtz in action against northampton, port vale, cheltenham etc etc last season?

get a fookin grip, alb is the best we have at present, he isn't great but he is improving all the time and i'd rather see steve jones come back than budtz in goal again.

once again, if he is "improving all the time" then why is he at fault for at least one goal every game? sctatchinghead He wasnt last season.

First goal, Collins AND Nelson 'defended' like a pair of not nice people.
Second goal, i agree he should have done better.
Third goal, fluke...no question.

yes we do. so does wilson. but until we can get rid of budtz we have no chance. hopefully something will happen and we can loan him out and bring dimi in.

i am fairly confident that a keeper and a full back will be enough to see us have a good season.

Agree entirely!!! 6 goals conceded in two games , the keeper must take some of the blame.

Add to that a defender , and a forward and we have a play off team.

I know it isn't going to be the answer to our immediate 'problem', but if Budtz is never going to play for us again, shouldn't Mark Cook be the one getting the job in goal for the Reserves, to find out how good he is.

After all if he was with the Mags from the age of 15, he must be a star in the making surely!!

lets face it even if alb got injured its very unlikely wilson would play budz in a home game. the crowd would lynch him.

Why? Been at fault for less goals than ALB in my opinion.

whether ALB as improved or not at the moment he is first choice
as for loans can you see KH taking a chance on Dimi with after his snapped tendon injury even if he is not paying all the wages

We should try and get Brezovan from Swindon on loan.
Him with ALB on the bench would be far better than the current situation.

Plus this beauty from Thornley Poolie which i kept.

"Anyone who thinks that Budtz should play for pools again is an idiot, we would be certainties for relegation if he was to be pools first choice keeper, FFS we might as well make foley first choice centre forward and be done with it."
