Why is Peter Mandalson still president at pools the man is a clown and has no link to pool's.
Off the top of my head i can think of 2 or 3 better qualified people than him but my first choice would be Sir Alan Shearer as his picture is already up in the Victoria suite... bbolt

Why is he a 'clown'

He was by far the best MP the town has ever had

If he was still MP, do you think the hospital would of closed, or local bus services would be getting axed

I don't

He's a puppet like the rest of them does what he was told by Blair.

Aye, as a constituency MP he was exceptional and brought a tonne of european money into the town. He may not have been impressed at the first Maoral election but he did good for Hartlepool.

Dead right about the string pulling though, he was the one pulling them not being pulled. (cue jokes about pulling)

i think hes probably stiil el presidente because his name still has clout and influence, and as far as ior are concerned that is more important in the bigger picture. i reckon he is probably the best mann for president for that reason as well, his name has a certain gravitas and he is still a very influential and powerful person even though he is not in the public glare as much. if people want the club to show ambition i dont think making jeff stelling president is the way to do it.... :-o

Jeff Stelling is a football commentator, Mandleson is a world level statesman and bottom feeler.

Is the latter really relevant to Pools, Mr I?

Apparantly, in his maiden speech to Parliament, after becoming MP, he once said that the first thing he woulkd rescue if there was a fire in his house was his Hartlepool United scarf - according to Iain Wright Wright Wright this is.

Must love the Club so much with a statement like that !

And of course, you should always believe what politicians say, particularly when they're aggrandising devious, lying, slimy pigs in their own parties. For 'Hartlepool Scarf' read 'Brazilian houseboy.'

Mandelson got sacked for having his hand in the till. Twice. If he'd cared about his constituency he'd have kept his hand out of the till and done what he was voted in to do.

He cared about Peter Mandelson, not Hartlepool.

Nowt.

Go and knock on his Geoffrey Robinson sponsored front door and ask to see his hartlepool scarf.

Come to that, go and knock on Ian Wrights and ask him how he became Hartlepools MP.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hartlepool_(constituency)

That's how he became MP....

...and that's why Hartlepool is known outside of the town as a Labour heartland (supposedly).
