I've read posts saying we were great, I've read posts saying we were rubbish.

We played well mostly. We created lots of chances and had lots of possession that was played in ther half. Perhaps we could have created even more chances from the amount of times we had the ball around their box. Stockport had 11 men behind the ball and made it difficult but when we needed a decent ball...it wasn't there or we'd carelessly give away possession.

Stockport had less time on the ball in our half but when they did they broke away quickly and this caused us problems. They played good counter attacking football and they did what they came to do. Set their stall out and try and nick a point. We'll come up against many teams that play like that, especially when we've scored 7 in the previous 2 games.

Needless to say we still created enough chances to win comfortably but we either didn't take them or were denied by a superb keeper. It's a shame they didn't have a lower league Danish keeper playing for them, otherwise we'd have scored 5 or 6. It was the best keeper peformance since Brezovan and we lost 1-0 on that day as well. Sometimes like Swindon things just don't go for you. We lost 1-0 on that day and were the last team in England to score that season, yet we finished second so have a little faith.

Finally, they all tried, Bob Newton said in the programme that the fans can spot a guy who is trying to a guy who is not. They all tried, last season there were perhaps some players who were not trying as hard as they should. That's a massive change in attitude and one that should stay the same for the rest of the season.

I'm not saying we'll finish second this season but if we can maintain our peformances from the last 3 home games, we'll win more home games than we'll lose.

And we'll need to if our away form carries on like the way it is. But that's perhaps a topic for next week.

The disappointing aspect of Saturday is that Danny knew beforehand that Stockport would come to frustrate & get men behind the ball. So we had Jones tucking inside, seemingly on Danny's instructions, & whilst that created space for Sweeney to overlap in the first half, it didn't really happen in the second half. Foley seemed to have instructions to tuck inside too, so his pace was never going to test their left back

Over 90 minutes we didn't create enough width to break down their defence. If there had been more crosses from within 20 yards of their goal-line, they would have been harder to defend than the more diagonal balls that were fired in.

Sometime's you can tell even from the audio commentary that it's just not going to happen. The sad thing is, that last-second winner didn't really come as a surprise.

Say what you like about us playing well, the fact remains we failed. A good side would have put the match beyond reach. I can't take any encouragement from a good losing performance against Stockport. Against Barcelona maybe but not against Stockport.

The thing I don't get about Wilson is his excuses. Yesterday he said that they flooded the midfield - fair enough. But surely they weren't allowed lots of extra players in the middle? they had eleven men same as us, that has to leave gaps elsewhere. We don't seem to have the tactical nouse to change things around to attack the oppositions weaknesses.
