I had to get some stainless steel bolts for a job and called at a suppliers to pick some up. Whe I looked in my pocket I only had a tenner, so I said to the young man serving me that I needed ten bolts, but as I only had a tenner on me, could he tell me the cost of the bolts so I could take a tenners worth if they were more than a pound each. He went away and returned with ten bolts in a bag and said " there you are, ten bolts" I explained I only had a tenner on me again and wanted them all if it was no more than a tenner...the bloke next to me rolled his eyes and it looked like a Two Ronnies sketch...he walked away and spoke to his supervisor who remonstrated with him and he came back with a calculator. "So how much are they then" I asked.... he looked at me and said "give me a chance I'm working it out"... so I waited and by this tiime all the others lads were waiting for the answer....the young lad added up, divided, subtracted, cancelled, started again and repeated theexercise and eventually went out the back for advice... he then reurned triumphant, went through the whole process again and announced......."£1.20 mate"...... I looked at him and said "Each?".. this confused him and he went out the back again..he returned, "No , the lot..£1.20 the lot"...Howls of laughter from all assembled and the lad next to me said "all that to work that out?"
The youngster was baffled. Welcome to the big cruel world...

...and some tartan paint, the big weight, the long weight and the metric adjutable spanner. When my uncle was serving his time at Richardson Westgarths, on his first day one of the tradesmen gave him his cap and told him to get a cap full of rivet holes and not to come back without them... he wandered around and my granda who worked there as a fitter asked him what he was doing with the cap and he told him the story...so he took the cap and got a punch and riddled the cap with holes. he told him to take it back and tell him who'd supplied the holes..it ended in laughter.
I wonder what they'd make of it today.

anyway, I can't believe this opportunity for a docu-series is going begging!! Fly-on the wall film crews capturing real acts of stupidity - both the visual and the spoken word!!!!!
It would go over the heads of a few million, but I like a laugh at other folks' expense!! It's not funny otherwise!!!!

From the makers of Booze Britain...we bring you Dumb Britain!!!!
