Is there a player in your book called Tony Greenwood? Boro-born youth team player, only played 30 minutes of a friendly against a Scottish side and broke his leg. Never recovered properly so that was the end of his career.

If he's in it he'll be over the moon.

The problem with the friendly games is due to poor reporting and a lack of records in relation to these.

John (MadJohn) and I have been frustrated by this as we have tried to compile a list of such fixtures and then appearances. Bloody typically the Scottish games were the worst reported upon. Although a lot of data has been gathered by using other sources other than the local press, there are still several inconsistencies and rather than include someone who trained pre-season and may have played in such a game, they have been excluded until confirmation was rec'd.

However, aside if you can provide me with the year roughly and or the opponents I'll get a little man on to it, providing it was a first team friendly as I can include him over the next days as I have a small window for amendments and a couple of photos I'm waiting for

I would hazard a guess that there's only around 4 or 5 that have been overlooked and also that if not a FIRST team friendly then we're stuck.

Get me the details and I'll look into it.

He's not Nigel's brother is he?

He was in the same side as Houchen, Linighan brothers and Paul Dobson.

If you want I may be able to give you his contact details as I reckon he'd be very happy to give you some help. He may also be able to fill in any gaps regarding Scots friendlies.

just email me them please PIN

colalifoster@ntlworld.com

i reckon this could be the 1983 game against berwick maybe, in which details are incomplete. There were several other trial players at this time Alan Weir - who signed and Glyn Chamberlain who never signed but is not included in the whos who as i cannot get confirmation that he played. There would have been no Houchen at the time of the linighans and dobber mind.

Thanks
