In my current marital state I got to thinking about this program. Do you reckon they'd get away with it these days?

Hard to believe it was the top TV program of its day.

If it hadn't have been, I would've said that you couldn't script it. Although 90% of 70s/80s comedy was gash, I'm impressed they could cram in that many race-based 'jokes'. Way ahead of its time maybe?

There was other stuff too. tradiotional playground ryhme - teachers taught it:

Eeeny meeeny miney mow
Catch a nigger by his toe
If he screams let him go,
Eeeny meeeny miney mow

We had no idea whatsoever what a nigger was, I thought it was something to do with snot.

Ever 70's kid in the town has heard this one....

"Dad, where's me mam gone?"
