"Swindon are almost a third of the way to their season ticket target after just two-and-a-half weeks of sales - after promising to cut prices by a third if they reach 6,000. "

I've seen a couple of these ideas floating around, think Bradford were first to do it, Huddersfield have slashed there's, could we afford to do it? Lets be honest we'll be lucky if we hit 2000 season ticket sales if the prices are the same, would we be better off with 4000 fans in the ground by cutting season ticket prices by 50%

I would have to say yes, because that's more beer sales, more food sales etc etc. But then you lose out if we do well and you can't get 5000 paying punters in the ground.

er

2400 season tickets holders last year i think at say £350 each = £840,000

er 4000 at £175 each = £700,000

doesnt work financially and would never work for too many other reasons

it's a nice idea but logistically pants

There is only one area in my opinion that would galvanise season ticket sales and that is expectation.
If IOR/KH/CT/DW fired the fans up by a few really good, cartwheel type signings then people might be motivated into buying a season ticket. Even then there would still need to be significant savings on gate prices.
Bring back the early bird and fire up the fans imagination/expectations.

Will all that happen? Don't hold your breath. bbolt

I must admit, even though I bought season tickets for me and my son last season, I am still a bit peaved at the 18% increase I had to pay. Even though the club said it was only a 4% increase they didn't mention the fact that they stopped the early bird discount scheme and therefore the increase was effectivly far higher than 4%.

But, being the loyal (or should that be daft?) supporter that I am I still coughed up. Given the rather bleak outlook for next season I am in two minds about renewing this season. I am hoping there are going to be exciting announcements ahead but I think I'm deluding myself. sadx

Maybe there's no need to halve the price to make such a big impact.

350 quid might be out of range for a lot of people but 250 starts looking good at just over a tenner a game.

4000 tickets at 250 quid a pop is a full megasnodger. The only way to tell is to test it and see. It has to be said that Pools' price cutting initiatives in the past (for certain isolated matches) haven't really done the business, although a whole season at cut rates might be a lot more tempting.

Like I said earlier, £354 with a 25% early bird discount would be a good incentive- that would turn out at £265.50.

There is only 2400 season ticket buyers in Hartlepool. If they're going to make first timers buy one they need to do something attractive and not detract from the present customer base. No point in swapping one for another or losing the revenue from the existing ones eh??

It's a fooking rats nest. They need to do summat along the lines of new buyers get a shirt or summat, then the existing ones will bleat like fook. Sadly you'll have to upset one lot to get the other lot.

Maybe so.

But if there is insufficient financial incentive for me to buy one this summer and the possibility that if I don't I will be given incentives to buy one in future years then I won't bother buying one this summer.

And like Dibble said earlier, if I didn't get one for next season and started to lose interest then I might not bother going back at all.

Tricky innit.

The club need do some cracking offers or risk selling a few hundred full paying adult season tickets and the rest being concessions.

Season tickets last season the pricing was very much wrong an 18% increase.
Why did we lose the early bird discount come to think about the 10% discount in the club shop why did we lose that.

Having had a season ticket for at least the last 15 seasons i am really thinking that if the club is`nt going to give me value for money for the they product they are selling me.
I just might not bother and just pick and choose games and watch the gates suffer if we have a bad season.

not sure where you get the figure of 2400 from great man but your maths is a million miles out.

i dare bet a pound, at least half the season ticket sales were kids tickets at 75 50 or 25 quid. a lot of folk like myself, dibble, ed, etc bought season tickets for the kids and didnt bother getting themselves ourselves as they are a snip.

add onto that all the concessionary season tickets for oaps, students and those aged between 16 and 18 and i would be utterly gobsmacked if pools sold many more than 1200 full paying adult tickets last season.

at 400 quid a pop for a seating season ticket theres barely a saving at all, and i cant see why people would bother paying up front.

pools lost a lot of full paying season ticket holders last season. thats why they will be offering a promotion this time around. they have to to get the punters in.

nowt wrong with me maths chip just me fig used as an eg

no amount of debate on here will change their minds

Port Vale are a bit of a weird one, not long ago they held their own in the second tier for a few years, even flirting with possible promotion to the Premiership. Their ground holds a canny few, and half of the city of Stoke and surrounding rural areas is quite a big catchment area.

Their impressive season ticket sales seem to prove that if you offer them cheap enough, plenty of people will buy them. I reckon exactly the same thing would happen in Hartlepool.

Of course it would. And turning up at that first game knowing at least 5k would be there.....would give the club, the players and the fans a massive boost. The feelgood facter would be there.

And they would shift loads of extra merchandise and pies.

But of course the club dont listen...........and the loyal few on here will just toe the party line.

Give over, why would the shift loads of merchandice, most people who have bought a cheapo season ticket will shit it at the thought of paying £40 for a replica shirt

And bearing in mind, once the feelgood factor wears off, the fans even with season tickets stay away, crowds dwindle, no merchandise is sold, no pies are sold, they end up like Bradford did last sesaon, doing cock all

Most replica shirts are £40 mate so people are used to paying that price these days.

I realise that, but given by the gum banging and gnashing of teeth on here, I can't see how ANYONE will be happy to fork out mor then a tenner for a shirt and perhaps eight quid for a season ticket

Because 'you can get into watch Piddlesborough for a fifteen quid.............'
