I love "Why Aye Man" myself, they used it as the closing theme tune in the Boro series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet - great song about the industry of the North East and the brotherhood of manual Geordie workers !

I concur Mr Gremmlin, I had the priviledge of sitting next to him last year while he strummed out Brother in Arms. An amazing experience.

he sometimes switches a bit to country and the line up last night was a a mixture of fiddle, sitar, mandolin, piano
even pan pipes, a far cry from dire straits total rock but a fantastic blend.
never seen so many guitar changes almost every number he had a differant guitar sometimes switching mid song
but to watch him with the strat and gibson was like watching a master class
one i had not heard before was about an ex marine teaching school boys to waltz clappp clappp clappp

surely MK epitomises Dire Straits i dont see the rest of that line up any where

That's 'cos they're are either out of tune cos he's bent them out of shape, snapped a string or he's playing in a different tuning. I've tried to play his stuff and he must have fingers eighteen inches long and terminal arthritis.

close up he looks as if he is faking but the right hand finger picking was superb
there was a guy sat at the back who did nothing but retune all night
as you say the bending was something else
when he played telegraph road with richard bennet and both played identical gibsons and the sound was unbelievable
