You are at it once again.. It is just like the Great British public to build someone up then take great pleasure in knocking them down again and again and again.

Take a long hard look at yourself will you.

Remember that this message board is just a very very small fraction of people who support Hartlepool United. Also remember that there are a few people on here who have more than one account (nothing wrong in that, if you enjoy talking to yourself).

So please screw the nut down.

You all know how I stand on Humphs, and his value to our club, not just as its most constant player over the past SEVEN YEARS, but as a ambassador not just for our club but for our town, I am not going to start to defend someone who is above (in my opinion) the petty goings on on here, that have been posted not just today but for a few years with regards not only to Humphs but with regards to other players.

Yes people are allowed to have their say and that is the way it should be, but come on people ..... stop talking out of your ar$e.

Kind Regards

Frank.

My opinion is that Humphreys has been a great servant to Pools but is way past his sell by date as a player. No good for league 1, either in midfield or at left-back. If we want to move up as a club we need to drop the likes of Humphreys and replace him with someone who can pass a ball. There is no room for sentiment in football.

I can't understand your post.

Nevertheless

I have never doubted his past qualities but this season and parts of last he has been shown lacking.

I also do not moan much about poor performances of the team in general but i cannot understand why in a season that most have declared is shite that a player rated by many as consistent is not rated as consistently shite.

A friend of many he may be and i have it on authority from many people that he is a charming guy but i'd rather have a miserable bastard with two feet who can tackle, track back and pass to someone on his team week in week out.

An ambassador for the town - does he live in town...?

He is what he is, he was what he was.

Is does not equal was.

Humphreys may not be the best left back in the world. But he is more than adequate.

He was also voted MOTM three games on the trot whilst playing in midfield. Who moved him back to left back then?

He is a great model pro, and is also supremely fit.......dont take my word for it, ask the physios at the club.

He never hides, always wants the ball, and always tries to play the game correctly. He is also a proud captain of the team.

I find the critisisms of him quite pathetic. And based on what?

If you want rid of Humphreys, then I suggest you must also want rid of at least 6 of the first team.

Thick fookers, that have quite clearly never played the game at ANY level.

Oh dear is it getting to you a bit sunshine

model pro
super fit
people in carlisle like him
never hides

still doesnt mean he is what the team on the pitch needs to produce results

I have him missing three games this year - we won all of them (100% success without him)

Then the games that he has played in we've not even managed to win a third

I'd love nothing better than seeing him running down the flank, whipping crosses in,or cutting inside and cracking in a decent shot, stringing a couple of passes together and so on.

But I just can't see it - if that makes me a thick fooker in your eyes then hey thanks - but i've been called worse by a lot better

Frank, we have had this discussion a thousand times. The fact is that you obviously think his sh1t smells sweeter than most. Nobody is doubting that he is a model pro, I agree that he is! However, although it may rankle with you, many people including myself dont think he is (a) a left back (b) good enough for league 1.

At league 2 level I would offer him a new contract (Maybe Danny is signing him on this basis? confised  ) partly because we have no one better but its a sorry state of affairs when we sign players because we dont have the scouting network to find decent players anymore.

I'm with Frank & Dibble on this one, he may not set the world alight every game, but he rarely has a really poor game, playing better than many in the team (Boland, Foley, Antwi, Budtz, Sweeney to name but a few) What do we do? Ship them all out?

There is some crap posted on here at times

I fully concur with Frank, Dibble and Cowboy.

A good move by Pools.

I think we are a dam sight better off with Richie Humphreys than we would be without him,I also think the same about Richie Barker.

if you go through the whole first team squad someone will have a BEEF about every player
you just can't please everyone
but some have been saying this about RH for a long time now they are bound to react badly to the decision made by who ever at hufc as someone said it is a good move by the club

oh dear i forgot to copy and past rolfl rolfl rolfl rolfl

really cheered me up that!! copy n paste MY ARSE.

i am not in the clubs employ - i voluntarily contribute to the programme and if people dont like it then that is up to them - dont faze me - i do it cos i enjoy talking to old players, their families and so on.

I don't do it for any self promotion - i'm not stood loitering at the ground trying to sell - meticulously researched - books.

i am not going to tow the club's line when, as not an employee, i don't know what it is.

as for the 'quotes' - a few words that i have strung together is not a quote - it is a few words i have strung together.

get over your dislike of me 'Colonel' and move on - you're way too old for all of this.

I'm just expressing an opinion about one player in a sensible matter - this is nothing like the witch hunt on Budtz/barker et al.

You can't disrespect his record - it's unique - but it's not his record i have the issue with - it's the here and now

millhouse pre match pint(s) next home game -we'll sort the fookin world out

Katcha...one point you perhaps have overlooked..

Ritchie Humphreys has been offered and signed a contract, as the player and person he IS TODAY not the player or person he was ...
If I am right in understanding your first reply to this thread .. you made the same point..

He's the best left back and left winger at the club.

Is he i cant remember Monkhouse playing more than 10 games this season. He is a petulant little schoolboy who needs a kick up the arse. At times doesnt even look bothered so what he scored a few last season. Ship him out and replace with better.

Monkey hasn’t played more then ten games due to injury and pea brain Wilson deciding Foley et al are better wingers

He isn't petulant, or at least I've never seen it from him, I've only seen a winger who can cross a ball, win a header and isn't afraid to tackle, tell me who can you get better, in this division with those abilities for next to nowt?

erm, righto. There is an awful lot of tosh talked on this forum but this has just won first prize. Monkhouse is a damn site better winger and to be honest I would sooner play Matty Robson left wing than Ritchie. Matty is ok going forward, it is the defending that leaves a lot to be desired. To play on the wing requires pace and the ability to get past a man. Ritchie is too slow to catch cold, that is why he is suited to league 2 level.

John remember it is Ritchie Humphreys from today that earned the contract not the Ritchie Humphreys from yesterday and before that..

It is what the man brings to the table today not what he has brought in years gone bye ... That is why he has signed a contract the contract that has been given to him for WHAT and WHO he is TODAY not the person he was in past years.... GET IT NOW JOHN... or is it still going over your head...

I don't get this whole argument. sctatchinghead

Ritche is a current first team player and has been for all but a brief spell. Therefore it's common sense to offer him a new contract until we can get someone better. (as is the way with all players). Even then he would still be a valuable squad member.

Whether he is good enough or not to push us on is another argument, Cos at the moment I think most of the team are not good enough as the results bear out.

I don't get either the celebration or the despair of his signing a new deal. We can't let him go till we have a replacement.

I greeted the news with a shrug. It seemed an inevitability. There are far more deserving candidates at the club to go before him.
I can see you really like the bloke Frank, but is it such a big deal?

That was a party political broadcast on bahalf of the old boys network party.

I must just be a bit thick then Frank, you see as far I can make out we have a lot of underachieving players and the fact is that if this football club is ambitious then the like of Ritchie Humphreys et al are not the players to take us to the next level.

Ok we all know that things are not going for us on the field of play just now ok.

Ritchie Humphreys is NOT The cause for it, yes he has played passes that dont get to its intended player, or was it that when the movement was planned in training the intended player ran into his intended place... and perhaps did not during the actual game.

Ritchie Humphreys has missed a tackle or two .. you show me a defender or player any player who has never missed a tackle.

Ritchie Humphreys has at times come up against a younger and faster player... that is football.. What I would say is that eight times out of ten Ritchie Humphreys makes and wins a tackle to stop that fitter younger player or he will workl hard to hold up that player unitll his fellow defenders are back in their defensive positions to defend any cross or whatever comes from that younger of fitter player .. I hope I have made my point clear enough for you..

Yes I do to a extent know the fella and I will always support him againt the utter crap that he has been saying on here with regards to the Dressing Room Mafia and as has indicated "the stabbing in the back by senior players at the club".

It is so so easy to have a go at players when you can hide on a message board, and that is a point that will anoy me. What I cant understand is "John/MrI" stands up for what he thinks is right but he does it not as the person he is but as some sort of message board warrior.

Ritchie Humphreys, Michael Nelson or Michael Barron and whoever else "John/MrI" thinks the SENIOR PROS are at HUFC. Can't come on this or any other message board and reply to what is being said about them. So perhaps at times I can... of course this is my personal opinion and not anything to do with my employers.

To close ... I would like to say to John/MrI that if he can at all prove anything about the Dressing Room Mafia or Senior Pros stabbing people in the back then, perhaps he would like to talk to them (whoever THEY ARE) about it ..... I could put him in touch with them (if he passes on their names to me) ...just a thought like.

Enough said now ... Time to Chill and wait for the fallout...

We need to remember that it is what someone brings to the table that makes them a TEAM player and not what they brought in the past ... people and things move on..

Oh thats alright then, everything in the gardens rosy.

I'm not hiding Frank, I say what I think and I don't let milk bottle sized rose glasses colour my view. We're not talking about the odd player going past him, whenever he comes up against a decent winger he's found out.

You're in love with him, I think he's over rated and no amount of debate is going to change that. As for your mafia jibe, you want me to provide affidavits? I know what I heard with my own ears. Oh and incidentally; the vast majority of people on here know exactly who I am - I'm hardly a keyboard warrior hiding behind a anonymous name.

Now't more to say.

Frank, I notice that you always defend the club and its players but obviously something is seriously amiss with the current team. What do you make of Danny Wilson as a manager? honestly. I just want to see if you can be critical of the club or its employees

Humphreys is not the problem, he is one of the very few who isn't the problem and gives his all.

Thick fookers, that have quite clearly never played the game at ANY level.

i agree humphs is a proper legend always gives 100% winning or losing

what a bag of washing blastt . people on here accuse the players of a lack of effort and passion, that's one thing you can never accuse richie of. a model pro who has taken the club to heart and shown uncommon loyalty. he's still only about 27 sctatchinghead and has never ever let is down in terms of effort. i honestly wonder what some of you fookers want from one of your team. get a fookin grip banghead

Ritchie Humphreys is one of only four class players in the side. The others being Nelson, Brown and Liddle.

Nelson is a quality player he is just suffering a dip in form. It's hardly a surprise when you consider the amount of chopping and changing in the back four and the keepers he's had to play in front of this season.

Porter is also quality. Not as good as David Foley though obviously stpid
