no way were we at our best - we didn't have to be!! Crewe were quite simply the worst team we have played this season. I was really surprised by them, all these Dario Gradi footballing teams etc etc - they are in for a tough time if that's how they play every week.
To be fair to Pools, we did what we had to and eventually scored after missing the target on about a dozen occasions!!!!

Hasnt Gradi been moved 'upstairs' at Crewe?

Brown was the biggest culprit today, but I still couldn't believe the grief he got around me in the Millhouse seats, bunch of chunts!

One of the few times that I have agreed with the sponsors man of the match, I thought Antwi looked very comfortable and composed and read the game very well this afternoon, I just wish that he wouldn't let the ball bounce though.

The more that I see Moore play the more I like him, he never stopped today and Barker should be buying him a few drinks in return for giving him two goals on a plate today.

I think some people are making more out of the so called players Crewe had missing today, they were pretty poor ,I have to say that but i dont think they were suffering the loss of key players as chipball says.

to be fair to alex they were without six or seven first team regulars and played some half decent football in patches, but they were lightweight in midfield and powder puff up front.

If you have a look at their starting 11 today

1 Williams
5 Cox
2 Woodards
3 Jones
6 Baudet
8 O'Connor
35 Bennett
4 Roberts G
12 Rix
9 Maynard
19 Miller

To me the squad numbers they have shows players who you would think were in the manager's mind to usually be in his first 11. 8 of them under the number 11. I may be wrong but 2 of players that were actually missing were loan players. And Pools' were missing players' due to injury.

So credit were credit due today we totally outplayed a team and the result was justified, so let the officials' and fans' of Crewe come up with excuse's let's not do it for them.

But they dont have a small squad,in fact for League one they have exactly the opposite,in that they have a large squad. Not counting loanees, they have had so far this season (5 in total).

There squad consists of

3 goalkeepers
9 defenders
6 Midfielders
6 Forwards

A total of 24 players, the equivalent of 2 full starting eleven's. then add the players who have been on loan, making 29 not a small squad , (our current squad,if you include Bullock who is loaned out stands at 25 who have squad numbers) and we only have Nolan in on short term loan (expires this month) ,though Antwi on loan he is our player all season, while they have 5 in,therefore from my figures a larger squad than us, So even more of an outstanding victory today........... well in my biased opinion.

So my right honourable friend, I refer you to my last post, let Crewe officials' and fans' make the excuses, not us.they got what they deserved today, which was nothing.

Are you warming to our pub league player Mr Ball?

If Humps had such a good game doesn't that suggest that there was a sound platform in the name of Elliott behind him?

me and Mutley were commenting during the match, that for the first time in ages the team was working the ball into wide areas and putting in crosses from the flanks high up the pitch - just the type of service Barker needs, but hasn't been getting most of the season!!
Why don't they try and play like that when Barker is in the team?? sctatchinghead
