... on the box this morning showed scenes from the concert...they all looked like 58 year old photocopier saleman and social workers, the sort who stand in the background during Top Gear, with grey beards and sad pony tails, wearing suit jackets over jeans and denim shirts, holding their mobiles above their heads to capture the action... bit sad really. confised

I dare say it is ... The thing is, be it nostalgia or whatever, but they were at their peak 35 years ago  ....it's a bit like people turning up for a Al Jolson concert in 1972......

nah that's b*llocks that...

i've seen robert plant a few times in recent years and he's not lost much. i'm only 28 so can't claim to have seen him at his peak, but the first time i saw him i guess a bit like you thought it'd be a bit cringy, he'd be past it, over the hill etc. but he was far from it. he played his own stuff and a few zep classics and he was awesome and his voice still absolutely fantastic. f*ck what they look like, that's not what it's about, i mean go back to mid 70's they hardly looked great then! but i bet they still sounded fantastic at the dome.....

the above is only in my opinion, obviously, music is a very personal thing and tastes differ massively, no right or wrong! (is that a big enough caveat?!)

Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant and bluegrass crooner Alison Krauss may not be the likeliest of musical combinations. But on this welcome collaboration album, they work beautifully together, wringing a kind of magic from other people’s songs. The key to the album is its versatility. Between them, Krauss and Plant can handle a vast repertoire on their own, and here they take on the lot, from folk laments and country soul to searing blues and upbeat rock & roll. Overseen by Elvis Costello producer T Bone Burnett and backed by high caliber musicians like guitarist Marc Ribot and multi-instrumentalist Mike Seeger, Raising Sand sees the duo create stellar covers of songs by Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, Mel Tillis and The Everly Brothers, among others. Highlights include a killer version of Roly Salley's "Killing the Blues", and a cover of the Plant-Page collaboration "Please Read the Letter," though in truth, it’s difficult to find a weak spot on the whole album. --Danny McKenna

Description
American bluegrass star Alison Krauss and Led Zeppelin frontman Robert Plant team up for one of contemporary music's most unlikely partnerships, and in doing so create a memorableand diverse collection of lovingly crafted songs. Recorded in Los Angeles and Nashville and produced by T-Bone Burnett (Roy Orbison, Elvis Costello), the album features a stellar supporting cast of musicians and includes interpretations ofclassics as well as lesser known gems by songwriters such as Gene Clark and Tom Waits.

Zeppelin were impossible to put into any one musical category, they played a wide variety of stuff but always to good effect. Physical Graffitti is still my favourite studio album by them, some brilliant music on that. The Zep remastered collection is very good for anyone who hasn't heard much of their stuff.

I liked Zeppelin at the beginning...Communication Breakdown started me off, it was raw, it was different.... but as in all things, not just musical, they lose their edge, get into their comfort zone and wander off into things like 20 mnute drum solos ( ok I made that up, or did I).. they end up being part of the Rockistocracy.... confised
