Behave yourselves!

We performed well. As well as we did all season but came up against a very good team who are top of the league. From what I heard we were much much better than recent games.

robbed, well worth a point. hit the woodwork twice and their goal was deflected past Budtz. Budtz had nothing to do apart from one save. Antwi was better than usual, Mccunnie MOTM, Brownie had a good game but we're just not getting the rub of the green at the moment.

I'm prepared to give Wilson slack for tonight, I don't think he could have done much more and was an improved managerial performance than of late.

With Monky back on the bench, hopefully he'll be worth a start on Saturday.

We're in no worse a position than we were yesterday at one of the trickiest gorunds for us.

Seemed an improved performance but still a bit punchless.

I would have preferred a draw but expected a defeat.

Didn't listen on the radio as I expected us to get beat tonight

I bow to superior knowledge that we played better than of late

Looking at the text commentary on the BBC we seemed to be doing ok, held on for 80 odd minutes & if their goal was a bit of luck I will reserve judgement for the present

& as HUFC Poolie said he did sub Barker (would have been better if he had tried something different from the start but still.........)

Did Nash and Gannon not also say that there was no real need for any subs as the team were doing fine?

Let's put things into perpective.
We've just lost 1 - 0, away to a team who are top of the league.
It was reported as a creditable performance, we hit the bar twice,
brought a good save out of the keeper.

On the downside, we lost to a soft goal

Let's hope the improved performance is a sign of things to come,
AND it doesn't stop the manager from bringing back in players
who are returning to fitness (i. Clark, Monkhouse, Liddle),
plus of course Porter (from the start)

i think their home form was pretty much like our own poor
but they are making up for it away from home
where we are not
hard luck defeats are no consolation

No idea,as far as Im concerned expecting to lose & just taking it lying down makes you relegation fodder.
If we really want to be an establshed league 1 side or even a promotion/play off contender then every league defeat has to be considered a bad result & at home anything less than a win is a poor result.

Im not quite at the 'Wilson out' point just yet,but I have no argument with those that are. This is just not good enough.

Anybody who is happy with the season and our performances so far has very low standards.

The BBC refers to "... a rare Pools attack."

That suggests to me that we were under the cosh.

But, as Mr PK would say, I wasn't there...

I've read a few reports and spoke to people who were there and they all seem more than complimentary about how we've played in a game in which we didn't deserve to lose and create by far the best chances

If you want to take four words from a BBC report and constort that as a hammering and being under the cosh then fair do's but you are letting recent performances cloud your judgement over what happened last night.

We lose again but our manager is happy.

I'm sorry but I can't believe that you won't give the players slack for last nights result, Swansea are a miles bigger team than us, with a much bigger playing budget; Duffy was on their bench FFS- the same Duffy we couldn't afford in the summer.

I will slag the players off when they lose to sh*t like Gillingham etc but I can't after performances/results like last nights. I am as pissed off as the next person with recent results and performances but having a go at the management/team about last night is idiotic in my opinion.

Theres no inconsistency in this though
We lost again !
We got no points again !
Teams who get no points get relegated !

We must get back to winning games & having a winning mentality.

Just been speaking to someone who went. He said, they had lots of possession but didn't look like scoring. He said we lacked creativity and also didn't look like scoring.

He said browny was very good but tired at the end. One thing he did notice was possession given away by ourselves time and time again and putting pressure back on us.

He said it was also a very boring game and the result was about right just because of the possession they had!!

He said if young james gets injured we are fcuked banghead

personally speaking, I hope all the players and the management are sick of us complaining on here. There's only one way it will stop, and they know it. It's up to them to stop giving us something to whinge about.

You'll be lucky.

They'll just get Mark Simpson to log on under his pseudonym and tell us that we've nowt to be whinging about due to the fact that we're getting better and that Wilson is so damned professional that he just pretends to be happy about losing but really is gonna turn everything around in the next match.

Or the next match.

Or maybe the one after that.

Or so long as we get a good cup draw it doesn't matter if we lose all of our league games...

we are hartlepool united, we have very good players, when you come to victoria park you had better be very very afraid because we are very good and we are going to attack you for 90 minutes, flat out. we will pass, we will move, you will not be able to cope. if you score 3 goals that will not be enough because we will just score 4. or 6 or maybe 8.

okay maybe it wasnt that good, and maybe i am looking at it through rose tinted specs, but i seem to recall we were fooking good werent we ?

there were folk on this very board who proclaimed the current squad the best pools have ever had at the start of the season. i dunno if thats true, but if it is its about time they started providing some evidence of it.

next tuesday night would be a good time to start.

Well said. clappp

But it's just not "the Wilson way".

He wants to bore teams into submission and sneak a goal from a long ball.

Any players who don't fit with this style of play don't get to participate.

I wonder if IOR will stomach boring football when the crowds die off.

A couple of years ago I used to be able to get non supporters to turn out to see a good game of football and they used to be pleasantly surprised at how good a footballing team we were.

And they'd go back too.

Now I wouldn't even try cos I'd feel like a twat making them watch the dross we're serving up right now.

GREAT SHOUT CHIP but doesn't it seem such a long time ago
we possibly have the best squad ever in abilty terms but that dosen't make us a good team
and some will be happy with a couple of wins
i will be happy if we avoid relegation which on current form looks unlikely

it seems like a long time ago, but does anyone remember the neale cooper reign when the basic principle seemed to be....

we are hartlepool united, we have very good players, when you come to victoria park you had better be very very afraid because we are very good and we are going to attack you for 90 minutes, flat out. we will pass, we will move, you will not be able to cope. if you score 3 goals that will not be enough because we will just score 4. or 6 or maybe 8.

okay maybe it wasnt that good, and maybe i am looking at it through rose tinted specs, but i seem to recall we were fooking good werent we ?

there were folk on this very board who proclaimed the current squad the best pools have ever had at the start of the season. i dunno if thats true, but if it is its about time they started providing some evidence of it.

next tuesday night would be a good time to start.

I remember those days  I remember us going over a year without being beaten at home (Damn you Barnsley!!)

I wish those days were back

At the moment I feel we are the Sunderland of the lower leagues - too good for league 2 but not good enough for league 1, & are destined to yoyo back & forth between the two

Coopers football entertained us....you looked forward to going ... and that's all I want now, to go in anticipation, not out of duty.

Cooper would not have stood for the present level of performance.
He would be 'encouraging' them to step it up a level, either by an arm around the shoulder
or around the throat, depending on which players he was dealing with. (allegedly)

I remember tales of a Cooper / Ross confrontation , which got a bit tasty
and we all know what Cooper did for/to Boyd, and the effect it had.

Maybe I just watched the wrong matches then, because every time I saw Pools play under Cooper we spent a hell of a lot of the time pumping the ball up to the front two and hoping for some good fall-out. I never saw us give teams the runaround. I never saw us take the piss out of other teams with our midfield brilliance like we did the season before Cooper took over. But as I say maybe he reserved the boring games for when I was watching.

We were very inconsistent under Cooper, but we did avoid being consistently bad.

This should not be construed as meaning I'm happy now.

Exactly how many matches did you see? ..... With Cooper you travelled in hope, since he left we haven't.
