All hell broke out off the pitch before during and after the game.

The Carlisle View:

Several arrests were made following pre-match violence, two hours before kick-off between Carlisle United’s clash with Leeds.

Scores of Leeds fans descended a train at about 1pm and were frisked by police for any hidden weapons before being allowed to leave the station.

Police confirmed numerous people were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public order offences after the violence which soon followed.

They were out in force in the city centre and Brunton Park in anticipation of 16,600 supporters, including 3,400 from Leeds.

Officers arrived within seconds of brawls breaking out in Walkabout, the Border Rambler and Woodrow Wilson.

Rowdy fans smashed windows in the Rambler and Woodrow Wilson. Shreds of glass were left scattered over pavements as the suspected thugs were taken away in police vans.

A police spokesman said: “We will not tolerate disorder. We want to make sure fans can enjoy the game without feeling threatened, and there are enough officers out to deal with incidents quickly and robustly.”

Police mounted on horses rounded up fans scattered across Lowther Street and directed them towards Lonsdale Street and Brunton Park before kick-off at 3pm.

In view of this was maybe giving leeds over 20% of our grounds capacity 3'400 (out of 16'600) leeds tickets a bit over generous, had we given them just 10% (1'600) it theoretically could have halved the trouble, we would have still filled the ground with our home support anyway

I know its a minority it always is, point is leeds has a big support base so therfore a bigger thug minority, I am sure our own thug minority had a part to play in this, but we don't have trouble at Bruntonia when playing nicer teams than Leeds utd (except for Millwall) now then Leeds or Millwall who are the worst, IMO Leeds total disgrace.

As I have said I saw no trouble myself personally, my Leeds friend who stood next to me at the match saw our Evening Paper and Border News TV and said to me "thats why we have a bad reputation, it appears to be Leeds tops etc that are doing it all"

The Leeds View:

ive heard different versions of what happend yesterday , yes there was trouble in town , when you get local knobs tooled up what do you expect , we wont just stand there , see the mention of 20 of your so called fans attempting to beat up 6 leeds fans in a pub didnt get a mention , or the fact that some of your fans were throwing stuff in the ground , we have women and kids in our end too , im not condoning it mate , think its totally out of order , just seems that whatever or whoever starts trouble its us that are to blame . havent heard any other teams fans this season saying anything bad after our visit , allso think you need to sort segregation out , couple of seats with netting and next to familys is not good enough mate .
