And the bookies make the Gateshead manger hot favorite. Looks like he is the man the supporters want. Interesting because the Heed usually promote from within ( after a temporary role ) so that would open the door for Sweeney. Be interesting if he was offered it and took it after never being interested in the Pools job. Unless he takes him with him. sctatchinghead

Don't think Sweens has been at Gateshead long enough to be considered as manager even if he was interested. Plus the bookies have been wrong before and Pete Wild is out of work!

True but it does appear the supporters want him more than anyone else. I personally would take Wild due to his knowledge of div 2. But on the other hand you won't get more exciting football than Heed play so the temptation to bring that to Carlisle with the huge crowd potential in that area must play a part. sctatchinghead

Carlisle are one of those clubs that get a decent manager then the fans get bored and want better…result, chaos.

sometimes promotion can work against a manager as it happened with simpson when the club might just not been ready for it.

It seems the norm with managers,do a great job and get promotion then struggle the next season and you get the chop.

Thing about Carlisle is they very rarely finish mid-table, they are either in a promotion race or a relegation battle, at least they achieve things though, unlike us, they've reached the FL Trophy final on no less than 6 occasions...if only.

Carlisle! When I was young and just started getting into football, Carlisle, for a brief period were top of the old First division! However I’m pretty sure they got relegated that season!

think they were top after a handful of games and did go down and down again. bit like northamton with their multiple promotions that ended up with multiple relegations back to where they belonged.

Carlisle United Football Club are delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Williamson as the club’s Head Coach.

Williamson, 40, has left his role as Head Coach at MK Dons to make the move to Brunton Park.

Wouldn't surprise me if MKD now take Robbie Elliott to replace him. The chairman wants a team to play pure football so it we'll possible.
