If Mr Starmer has a pair he should introduce a similar charge to enter the United Kingdom another way to stop illegal immigrants.

My Thai partner has just applied and been granted a U.K. visitor visa for 6 months validity, round trip to Bangkok 2 hours each way, mountain of paperwork, photograph and fingerprint £120, the EU Visa is very cheap compared to that and all done online. If I travel to Thailand as a tourist I can enter visa free for 60 days
At the end of the day it’s only for non EU citizens, the U.K. isn’t part of the EU.

Another £6 per person on each trip. Surely got to be applied for people entering the UK as well.

Turkey have had this in place for years... the travel company we use now just incorporate it into the price so dont really see it.

wont be long before all EU holidays do it. Obviously if you dont use a travel agent then this will be paid id guess upon entry like you do in Turkey or before hand like an ESTA for the states.

This was on the cards before Labour come to power but the Tories did nought about it.

$21 for ESTA to enter the USA, not many countries don’t charge entry fees but you might not see them as they are included in the air fare.

But they might have when it was actually brought in, which it hadn’t been… and only in the discussion phases anyway..Starmer’s problem.

I think the Tories put a lot of stuff on the back burner knowing it wasn’t going to be their problem as they knew were going to lose the election. Let Labour deal with everything including wage negotiations then they can get the blame if it all goes t*** up, that’s how politics works.

The BOE cut rates for the first time in over four years on Aug. 1, signaling the start of a cautious easing cycle. Money markets are pricing a quarter-point reduction by November and a strong chance of another to follow by year-end.
Who is going to who was/is responsible for the rate cuts, Conservatives or Labour ?

Of course they will mortgage rates will come down and anyone who wants to borrow money for car will get a better rate, downside the savings rates will be reduced.

Snowy people in glass castles shouldn’t throw stones, think about the younger people, your kids and their kids who want to travel and study in the EU having to apply for visas etc. Even up and coming musicians and also recognised musicians have to apply for a work permit in every EU country they want to perform in. It’s got to the stage where they won’t bother any more, too expensive.

I am not on about holiday makers, people used to be able to work and live in the EU like I did visa free, you can’t do that in the States unless some one sponsors you or you have a Green Card.

I know of no one of my acquaintance going to study in Europe, for most people the cost would be prohibitive, but easily accessible to the Jemima’s and Marmaduke’s of this world.
As for musicians…apply for a visa like every other country in the world.
They’re no more special than any other body else.

Never been back to Turkey for years but if memory serves it was £5 note paid on entry to passport control back in the 90s and 00s.

In one word yes, we once belonged to the biggest trading organisation in the world with free movement of goods, now a mountain of documents, inspections etc forcing the prices up and people who filled jobs the little Englanders wouldn’t do.
As far as musicians we are not talking about the mega famous bands who were travelling from one EU country to another earning a living now that’s being denied, we are not just talking about musicians but any group who want to do theatre shows etc.
Can anyone list what the benefits of leaving the EU are, oh we got our blue passport back, 30p Lee said we want our borders back, we have had more legal immigrants than we ever had when we were in the EU.

you could always find work in europe before even the common market was invented never mind the eu with its eventual free movement. however it was on a contract basis where you went home after it was up. could see nothing wrong with that even offering contracts to foreigners coming here. fact is plenty have come here who have not stayed after a time.

Before entry into if my memory serves me right Brits used to work illegally in the bars in Spain prior to the U.K. joining the EU, the Police were for ever raiding the bars and deporting the workers.

deporting illegal workers. need to explain what that actually means as a MP could not explain it.
