Just been for appointment at 10.45am I got into the surgery at 10.35. Infront of me were 5 people waiting to book in to be seen and then me. The first three details etc then sat down the fourth could not remember what day he was supposed to be booked in and it took a couple of minutes for the receptionist to realise his appointment was next month and not on the 22nd sctatchinghead Now its 10.42 only one woman and child infront so spot on timing. But no this sad sad woman confirmed her booking then began telling the receptionist about the trouble she was having with her car today and how its going to cost a fortune to repair including as much detail as possible. The little girl aged about 8 started to tell the receptionist about a dancing class ( whilst mammy smiled and encouraged ) she had just joined. The receptionist trying hard not to offend the little girl said " good for you honey hope you enjoy it " then said I have a gentleman behind who has been very patient and I need to see to him. It's now 10.46 ( 4 minutes of valuable time wasted and now I am now late for my appointment banghead ) and 2 more people had joined the queue. What happened next amazed me the woman turned vile raised her voice and said so that's how you treat a child no wonder people complain about the attitude of you bloody receptionists sctatchinghead I want to see the surgery manager to put in a formal complaint about you. she got told she will have to wait until someone has time to document her complaint. She said f......k.it I have a car to repair and walked out. I booked in at 10.47 so it took 5 minutes for to book in then book out a vile horrible selfish sad woman. Some people don't do the rest of us good citizens any good with that attitude. I could well see her sort throwing bricks at the police it would not surprise me one bit. Anyway she asked me to speak to her colleague and confirm what had happened to prevent this vile thing coming back for compensation. I am embarrassed to be English at times like that, if it was a bloke I would have intervened but a woman and kid not really possible.

Very sad but true 27. I have just been replaying this crazy situation in my head and it downed on me what if I was the person in front and she was waiting behind and we made her late for her appointment by my chit chat. Then I thought it would be the very same result because she would again have attacked the poor young polite receptionist. I honestly believe with all this woke stuff going about now some people see this has a licence to think whatever they say or do is fine including breaking the law because they have rights.

Another thing that worries me from that type of person is what kind of image is she giving off to her young children. And if capable of going from nice and friendly to a monster in seconds and attacking a nice young receptionist, what happens when someone really upsets her.

I hope the practice give her a warning that if that behaviour happens again she will be removed from the practice register.
Sometimes people need to be taught a lesson.
I think what is effective just like what has happened after the riots etc is to send a clear message that bad behaviour will not be tolerated.

Leggie, You don,t really think they care about their kids, If they did they would bring them up correctly.

I had an appointment the other week about my knee and joined a queue of very angry people who it turns out where there for the same problem as me but it transpired the person we were supposed to see had not turned out.
Considering I had to wait 3 months for the appointment, I’ve got past the stage of caring.
Doubtless I will receive a letter asking why I didn’t attend for my appointment. I kid you not.

its just a complete nightmare working with the general public where only one miserable sod looking for an argument can spoil your day. there are a few decent ones you come into contact with but you quickly forget them once you meat the arsehole of the day.

A lot of people are upset and angry, some of it caused by the Kafkaesque society we live in where you just cannot get things done which you expect to do quite easily. Try cancelling your Sky Sports package..........its probably a better definition than below.

Meaning of Kafkaesque in English
extremely unpleasant, frightening, and confusing, and similar to situations described in the novels of Franz Kafka: He is caught up in a Kafkaesque bureaucratic nightmare. The urban landscape is invested with a nightmarish, Kafkaesque bleakness.

There is NO excuse for the abused meated out to people who are simply doing their jobs as public facing servants.

its never been good but feel the situation has got far worse since the covid restrictions where i feel it changed people quickly and many have not recovered their minds yet. its certainly got harder for people like me who speak first and think second as its increasing easier to wind people up for a row. as i have said many times before i,m glad i,m getting old.

Putting certain people behind a glass screen or in a uniform makes them feel powerful, Storemen were also a pain made worse when their title was changed to a Material Controller. I worked with one in the Boro, his nickname was ‘the engineer’ as he appeared to know better than anyone no matter what you actually wanted to order.

there has always been a bit of that especially those stuck behind a screen especially the doctors receptionists. they try to portray that their medical knowledge is superior to the doctor you might see. bit of a generalisation i know but thats how i have found many to be. would be better for people like street wardens and PCSO.s to have a more relexed uniform that fits their titles and what they can or cannot do instead of something you,d have expected to see in 1930,s germany.
