The ground was a typical non league ground, to their credit they had an indoor can bar but the burgers weren't up to much.

It was clear Sarll had told Dixon to kick the ball long 100% of the time, there wasn't a single short pass. The same applied to the opposition keeper, Singh.

Tamworth were shit houses, playing for every set piece, fighting for every inch of ground and in the referees ear every 2 mins especially the tall, skinny CB. We stood up to them and matched them no problem.

Featherstones introduction into the 11 helped us get a foothold on the ball once or twice in the first half, otherwise it was poor football, the ball pinballing all over the place.

Tamworth threat was down their left wing and he had Stevos pants down a couple of times which resulted in a worrying booking. To his credit he recovered and dealt with their winger well after that.

We were missing Dodds, Waterfall, Charman Sloggett and now we have signed him, Madine so we had very little quality on the bench.

It was basically a physical aeriel battle that two sides cancelled each other out. Campbell really struggled, even with his final ball and shots, he did have chances to create but was almost always blocked by the first defender which was poor, I am sure he will come good.

Despite the lack of quality on the bench the obvious change of Mancini for Campbell impacted the game. Mancini was back, fortunately you can see (despite the crap floodlights) some of his impact in the highlights. He was getting the ball down on his chest from the aeriel pinball twisting, turning, creating and shooting. If anyone was worried about him, don't be, to do that in a match that was a pure physical battle was remarkable.

It was his run and shot that cannoned to the all important Sheron who threaded to Grey to get half a yard on the defender and slot in the bottom corner. Tamworth had half chances and two clear cut in the last min, but we had the quality to score - that was the difference between the two sides.

The defence was excellent, clearly coached well by Sarll & Co and Dixon was brilliant, claiming multiple crosses from an obscene number of set pieces and 50 yard throw ins.

Overall a poor spectacle but a brilliant result against a very difficult team to play against.

The unbeaten, clean sheet run continues.

Yep, great to have a pitch side view. Terrible surface, terrible floodlights - everything that's wrong with this division in one game but you've still got to battle to win any points.

if you can win a battle there you should be able to win one anywhere else.

very true Acc totally agree.

We should see some neater passing football this weekend too and Wealdstone have not had a great start so should be putting them under it from the off - Mani D or Campbell are due to get off the mark so lets just hope both do this weekend !

They were a Pound-shop version of us in a way….except they weren’t very good at it and we were.

good football at a place like tamworth is like expecting to see a dead tarantula on your plate as a starter.

It’s obvious one of their main forms of attack was long throws. The one in the last minute reached the far post must be one of the longest I have seen.

I really hope they get relegated, yes there is more than one way to play and nothing wrong with mixing it up a bit etc but their sloping plastic pitch and constant hoofballing etc made for genuinely one of the lowest quality games I have ever seen.

The plastic pitch nonsense at this level needs to stop

Exactly, if they’re ever hoping to get promoted the pitch will have to go…thank God.
So why not make the National League all grass too.

Shout out to Mancini defensively as well, general
Wisdom seems to be it’s not his forte but a number of times he got his body in front of them last night or in the right place because he was the most intelligent player on the pitch, shows how much of the game is played with your head

possibly because there are a number of sides who are just happy playing at this level where for some its the highest position they have ever been in during their history. it brings in extra revenue for that club to keep em going. we are interested in promotion. their fans are interested in not being relegated.
