not sure what 'short term contract means' are these glorified loans?
I definitely think we will need the bodies so it makes sense to me to bring him in

He's a free agent, so how can it be any sort of loan?

usually means its from 1 to 6 months and not a full season.

Challinor was partial to deals like that. At the start of the promotion campaign Ryan Johnson was signed for one month - then 6 months, then the full season.

Zane Francis-Angol was another - short-term deal, then a year's contract.
