Great start with 3 points and as I have said we couldn’t have wished for an easier first month (Southend fans saying they expect to be a lot better in a month or so when they make more signings etc..)

We have a chance for a flying start … BUT it won’t mean anything unless we have proper squad depth

Parkes and waterfall took knocks and will struggle to be playing twice a week, week in, week out (thankfully one of the few positions we have cover for)
Others will also be nursing injuries as the season progresses and we will need to rotate

I know some will say ‘don’t complain enjoy we are winning’ but now is the time to really push

At minimum another wide fwd, centre fwd and left back needed to allow us a proper squad and shot at the playoffs…

Well Loyal I agree with most of that but can we not just leave it to D.S. to sort out and see what he does first before we start panicking. I think its fair to say we all know we are short of numbers and most of us believe we have a very sound first 11. The Manager in my opinion really does know what he is needed and is working on it as we speak. Lets all enjoy the win and support the team. UTP

I agree with a winger, left back but not sure about a Striker. Only because Mani D is not easily replaceable, I'd rather not have a young loan doing that job. Having watched Charman do it vs Forest B I'd prefer him and have another winger as cover.

We also need a keeper. Smith is on a short term contract.

Dixon is miles better than Smith, some were surprised that Dixon started vs Yeovil but I wasn't, Sarll doesn't rate Smith and only signed him to avoid having 0 keeper on a 7 man bench which could have ended up in a shambles if Dixon got a knock.

GK and LB are our weakest areas for cover, Fergy can do a job but there's no natural cover.

The question is whether DS will be backed or not…

I'm certain he's waiting for a premier league teams young keeper, possibly the Everton lad. Probably keeping his fingers crossed no EFL side takes him then he can swoop. Just a guess but I presume that's what he's doing. Definitely need 2/3 outfield additions as well then we will be looking stronger.

Agreed, starting with Dixon as our keeper is problematic (and yes everyone deserves a chance/ clean slate etc blah blah blah) but we know

As for the outfield players the sooner the better, while
I take Sarll point on loans is a big diff between long and short term loans, and done properly longer term loans can provide some real quality that isn’t affordable from perm signings

Agree we deffo need 2 or 3 more outfield players, particularly up front, think we have plenty of cover in defence and midfield.

As you're so concerned, you could always try getting along to a few games, boost the coffers and all that. There's still time to get an early bird deal on a season ticket bbolt

I don't get this Raj needs to back the manager and get some signings in. What evidence is there that Raj has shut his wallet? Sarll has said he wants the right characters and he'll wait to get them. If he's not concerned then that's fine he's the manager and its his job on the line.
Yes I'd like to see a couple through the door but panic signings to make up numbers didn't work last season so why would it work now?

In all fairness it ain’t easy when you’re Killip’s butler to get to Pools matches.

DS has quoted many a time he wont go out and just bring anyone in for the sake of it and thankfully also said that short term kids on loan are a waste of time too which we have seen so many time at Pools fail so hes bang on there. He also wont just sign people he hasnt seen im guessing or got good reports on. Joe has handed him players to look at and hes pied them all by the sounds which to me suggests there is funds available - he isnt just going to wax it all like previous managers - hes biding his time and probably waiting on some free agents or lads on the bench to make the decision on Pools like Slog did. Hoping the quality doesnt dip as time marches on with the incomings but i highly doubt it will. Loans id imagine unless desperate we see a season long one on some really good prospect like a Burey or Tshbola type figure. One who can get into the first team and make impact. If we get lads who are on the cusp of getting into their parent teams first team we will be laughing. We have seen lads like this before and they have all helped Pools.

Still time yet and i think even Henry might be still with us training - which i wouldnt mind him coming in.

LB - CM - CF - Wingers <<< for me are No1 - we have 2GKs who tbh can do a job at this level. Loosing a good outfield player cost us last season so we dont want that again !

As for the argument with Mani D - just someone natural to come on and replace him to keep him fresh or safe if hes had a knock. Another big target man like DS was saying so he doesnt have to change the dynamic of the team or tactics.
