What makes you excited or hopeful about this particular season? I’m struggling to see positives with such a thin squad. Give me hope though!

Kev I have bumped into the manager at the ground 3 times and had chats with him. He knows exactly what he is doing and he gives me great faith for this season. We also have ManiD who the best striker in the league and will probably score more goals than last season. We have signed quality players from the 5 times so far I have seen them play. Sloggett is a super player and everyone will soon be signing his praises. But they are all very good footballers. Joe will score plenty this year Campbell will create major problems for teams. The defence I believe will be much tighter than last season. We need a quality keeper and maybe another 2 good players but if we avoid major injuries we get promotion simples. Keep the faith support the boys come on ...UTP

Thanks for the straight reply to a question. Fair play and it’s reassuring hearing that.
My big worry is on Raj cashing in on Mani D or Grey mind but they’re still here so fingers crossed for a good start. UTP

Last seasons starting 11

532 formation
Dixon, Seaman, Dodds, Onaraise, Pruti, Fergy, Crawford, Mancini, Cooke, Wreh, Umerah.

Subs used Hastie and Grey
Subs not used Jameson, Lacey & Dolan

Our lineup vs Yeovil is likely to be
433 formation
Dixon, Dodds, Parkes, Waterfall, Fergy, Hunter, Sheron, Featherstone, Grey, Campbell, Mani D

Subs Smith, Onaraise, Sass Davies, Sloggett, Charman

Last season Mani D was suspended for the first game only. But look at how poor that defence was, it wasn't till September 23 and then Jan 24 before we kept our first and second clean sheets.

Defensively we are far, far better. Not just Waterfall and Parkes but Hunter and Sheron. Crawford and Cooke were limited attacking wise and poor defensively, now that we have Hunter and Sheron you can see how an experienced midfielder should press, should be aggressive and should win the ball, both in the floor and in the air - Crawford did OK at times but Cooke was terrible at it.

Grey is absolutely on fire, as he was at the end of last season and Campbell is potentially the Mancini without injuries.

I've not saw Sloggett play yet but if he's as good as people have suggested, then I would argue our squad that started last season was 5/10 but our squad this season is 8/10.

This years squad is vastly superior.

This is the reason for optimism.

I'm hopeful. I'd like a couple more in to bolster things, but it looks promising. Fingers crossed!

I travelled to first game 2 seasons ago, Walsall away, we were terrible and battered 4-0.

I travelled to Barnet first game of last season, also terrible, went 3-0 down. Barnet made subs and took foot off gas, we lost 3-2 but never looked like equalising.

I debated Yeovil away as its not too bad flying to Bristol but decided against it, so I reckon we are destined to win now.

We have had some terrible first day results in the past, so hopefully this one is way different i notice we have sold around 150 tickets for the match a long old journey and once again great support.

Bristol eh? We at ‘Kamikaze Air’ are flying that way on the very morning if we can get the old red lead paint on the wings to dry in time and paint over the bodge we used.
My navigator Flying Officer Legover however only has an A to Z of Skegness which restricts us a bit …but Bristol is south of here and a bit west so no problem.
Awkwardly we don’t stop at Bristol but a parachute (ex Luftwaffe… soiled) with a 35% discount is available….. how you get back is problematic…for you, not us.
Thanking you in anticipation. bbolt
