When bored I like to have a gander at other teams message boards. Halifax are having a nightmare preseason.

Hyde 2 Halifax 1

Mossely 0 Halifax 1

Barnsley u21 1 Halifax 3

Huddersfield u21 2 Halifax 0

Alvechurch 1 Halifax 1

Radcliffe 1 Halifax 0

Scunthorpe 1 Halifax 0

Ashton 2 Halifax 0

They haven't played a single team of the same level or higher (a bit like us). Against Radcliffe and Scunthorpe they didn't muster a single shot on target.

They have two key players injured, likely to miss the start of the season. Their first 3 games are interesting, all at home because Barnets pitch isn't ready.

Their fans can't see them winning as their defence isn't great and attacking wise they have no threat. They aren't so fussed about their results but their patterns of play are described as 'looking like they've not saw a ball before'.

Jack Hunter has come up a few times as a big miss for them, as although he's a defensive player they miss his combativness and leadership, put simply they haven't replaced him.

Their most recent signing is a young unproven defender from Leeds, who got turned inside out in a recent friendly and went off injured.

Not looking great for them at the minute, but football is a funny old game and the season is long.

pre season results mean sod all its any other problems they have that will be important in how they start the season. even a poor start with injuries does not mean their season is over before october.

Surely by Sod’s Law that indicates they’ll be in the play offs.

Here's a post from their forum that sums up alot of their feelings well:

'another poor result in preseason game... one result doesn't matter, but taken on mass is this the worst preseason ever.

to me what is frustrating with one game left we havent seen what is potentially the starting 11.

how can you build rhythm in a team if they are still to play together

think we know our back four.

but who is the midfield two or our forward 3

and our lone striker ...

i dont know and i worryingly think Milli doesnt either'

Take Pools, although our GK situation isn't great we know our back 4 in Fergy, Dodds, Waterfall & Parkes, we know our midfield is Sheron, Hunter plus either Featherstone or Sloggett. We know Mani D is our striker and it's looking like Grey and Campbell to support.

We have a strong, reasonably settled side who have been together pretty much the whole preseason, playing in a way that is clearly how the manager has set out.

We've signed a couple players to help fill the bench today and may get another 1 before Sat.

Yet it's our preseason that's been a disaster?

Hopefully Halifax situation gives us Pools fans some perspective. It could be far worse than it currently is.

They were bound to crumble when the Mighty HUFC quadrupled there best players wages.
UTP.
Looking forward to our promotion party.

Halifax got a 0-0 away to the dog n duck today. Gateshead beat Farsley 6-0 hattrick for a trialist. Rochdale beat Salford 5-2

Devante Rodney and Kairo Mitchell scored over 30 goals between them last season and they've done a lot of team strengthening in other areas over the summer. They'll give it a proper go next season.

Think Devante Rodney would be a class addition for us - id love to have him back - he would be the missing piece in the forward line for me.

Rochdale will be a tough cookie this season like - can see them and Barnet being the run away front 2 if it happens
