Or I could set up a company, put it into debt lending money to myself to pay my bills, then when I sell my house, I could ask the buyer to clear the company's debt too. What could go wrong?

You have got to look back and how did TMH and Coxhall manage to ‘buy’ Pools, none of them had any collateral ?

Because IOR (after that false start with the bucket men) were not twats about the sale.

Not so sure about that Mr Imp. Maybe if they had been more discerning rogues and vagabonds would have been shown the door.
IOR just wanted rid and their performance in achieving that showed very little concern as to what might happen to the club.
That's my take on it anyway. The so called football authorities, self appointed guardians against jiggerypokery weren't covered in glory either.
IOR did a lot of good for Pools but in the end they didn't appear to give a pigeon's tit about who took over and it subsequently showed. They gave us some of our best years, of that there is no doubt but the skies eventually clouded over. I'll be forever grateful to them all the same.
