Sounds similar to the goal Rodney scored against Pools.

One bright point though, 5 players that came through the youth set up played today. Storey looked lively but Darcy looked a real prospect full of confidence, strong, pacy.
Grey and Mani D have to play closer to each other as a strike partnership next season.

Him or someone like him is needed, once they broke past he was the only one with the legs to make them check back, makes a huge difference

I think there might be a decent player in him if he settles down a bit and doesn't try to do everything at a hundred mph. Plus he's shown that he's willing to play in a few different roles, could be a decent enough option for development as a squad player next season.

For me best player on pitch was the tiny Dagenham midfielder Keenan Appiah-forson on loan from West Ham. Wikipedia has him down as 5’ 9” must have been standing on a stool when they measured him.

When you watch videos of the youth team some of the goals they have scored have been fantastic. Maybe their is a bit of hope for the future.

Utter dross. You would think that the team would have put extra effort in to the last game of the season. No sympathy for those losing their contracts. You can forgive lack of skill but not effort. Unforgivable!

Rumours of an outbreak pre-match among the squad of ……’Can’tbearseditis’….the one were you don’t get the ‘runs’ on or off the ball.

and KP coming on saying more or less he gave them a bollocking at half time. not for the first time he has said similar things where half time should be about tactics and tweeking things not about getting players doing what they should be doing putting a shift in. never bothered to go which is a rarety as i usually make an effort for the last game of the season at the vic. possibly it sounded as if some on the pitch followed my lead.

Askey constantly told us the players wouldn't follow instructions, now Philips saying pretty much the same thing. Sounds like someone within is undermining the manager to me - time to get shot of whoever it is.

or many of the fans who agree that managers are using the wrong tactics in games. its not under 11 football, but a game where many of our players have played loads of first team games themselves and know the game as good as the managers do. pools problem has been for years a manager has been unable to bring their own type of player in to follow there instructions to the letter due to never being here long enough to finish the job.

In employment away from football if you don’t do as you were told repeatedly you would be sacked, some footballers know they are unsackable so please themselves what they do.
How many players past and present know no matter how they perform the salary goes in the bank wether playing on the bench or sat at home.

Play 3 academy players in midfield on Saturday. Get them in the penalty area with Mani and Grey and play a high press. Nothing to lose! Stephenson protecting the back 4. I have had enough of Featherstone, Cooke and Crawford. Lazy fu@@ers. Be BOLD Phillips.

I'd play young Darcy in front of the back 4 and tell the full backs to press high. This kid looked good on the ball, got stuck in, has pace, and us full of confidence. Think he could do a decent job in there.
I'd also play Storey behind the front 2 of Grey and Mani D with Crawford and another kid with athleticism making up the midfield.

While I appreciate the ideas, The NL is very physical and youngsters would get kicked all over the park. Best to introduce them slowly with game time from the bench so they can acclimatize, as it were.

All the young kids including Stephenson should be considered a bonus and not be thought of as part of the squad in terms of next years core planning
They may turn out to be great but too much of an unknown, Grey looks a good one but only after a few years

I remember in the 90s we had a lot of youth come through, Ingram, Skedd, Lynch etc, said more about how we were on the bones of our arse than what a great youth system we had

Agree, therefore this is the ideal time to be rid of those eating away at the fabric of the club with many contracts being up.
Even those with a year left on their contract who haven’t been featuring should be brought into the fold and made to feel part of the squad because there’s an awful stench of cliquey players dictating things by dumb defiance in my opinion.
Time to tackle it.

true as i have said on another thread if we copy what we did with joe grey they might succeed but unfortunetly many are playing the best football of their careers now and do not push on as we expect.
