Chesterfield lost twice, Barnet lost twice, Solihull Moores lost twice, Oldham lost twice, Bromley won one, lost one, Gateshead won one with one to play, Aldershot lost one with one to play.

So out of the twelve games played we have lost ten and won two. Tells you all you need to know about the relative quality or lack thereof in the Pools team over the length of the season. Even in the KP era we have lost two out of three to top seven teams with the only win, away at Bromley.

We were lucky to beat Gateshead as well after being outplayed most of the game

But we did win, you get no points for playing well, just getting the ball over the line, that’s what it’s all about.
It’s football, it’s not figure skating, it’s a crude numbers game that makes it so entertaining and unpredictable.

We were outplayed in 2 thirds of the pitch against Gateshead, they got to the edge of the box and created virtually nothing. We won due to a great defensive performance (we actually were better defensively with 10 men) and a great breakaway late goal.
We've dominated possession and lost games because we didn't create chances and score many times. But lost, it happens.

true, and if we had lost to 10 men and the game had panned out the other way the bullets would be flying about. at times pools cannot win in the eyes of some fans.

Yet a lot of fans believe we have a chance of gaining an extra 30 points next season and winning the league. Its never going to happen unless serious investment is somehow brought into the club. You just got to look at this weeks loans to see whats to come next season. We keep signing loans just way out of their depth for this league

I think the point being made though is we have been utter shite against the top 7. Lets stop making excuses for this team this year. We will soon find out what gateshead are like in the return fixture. We got lucky that day against them and if we did that every week we would be happy. Im more concerned with the fact in the last 2 and a half games we have gone back to looking pathetically weak again, thats more of a concern than beating the top 7.

another big concern is out inability to play two good halves of football no matter who we play. a lot is made of our second half comebacks since KP arrived but you cannot win games week after week by having a good 20 odd minute spell like we did against altrincham. on another day another side will be out of sight before a half time bollocking and changes are made.
