Apparently setbacks with Mancini and Duffus just today which means Cooper's attacking nous will be required all the more. Hpefully a good signing.

We hate Colchester U. 'Cause they beat us 6-2. AKA 1976 I think. Welcome aboard Chay.

Says his finishing technique in and outside the box is important to his game.

Described as a short-term loan at that. Probably only for an initial month.

would love to see him and Mancini play together - sounds like Mancini is out for longer than we all expected thats for sure.

i have a funny feeling where only going to get 3 games at a time out of him - then out for 6 weeks plus. Dont care how good he is, its not the model we need. Structure and consistency in the 11 is what you need to get out of this division as shown with Chesterfield

Wow that's a bit strong sctatchinghead Don't forget he had a very serious injury and was possibly brought back to soon. Plenty of players have had the same injury and made a full recovery. We have to let him get over this injury properly before writing him off. He is probably the best midfielder in this division and is exactly what we need to push for promotion next season. He is worth two players ( at this level )when fully fit and deserves respect.

ive got a feeling we will get a few more games out of him this season then he will go. Someone in the club shop at weekend asked about his contract extension and although he didnt say no, he also didnt state he was signing on for longer either!

i agree with what your saying and yes a major injury etc best player we have had for a while... fully agree but im being a realist with what ive witnessed at Pools for the last 20 or so years too ! just our luck

He’s done enough already for a club to take a risk
On him, if we do have an option I’d be amazed if we didn’t take it up due to ‘fitness concerns’

we have the option for a year on him - which if im not mistaken, is down to us to trigger that and him have no option in the matter actually. Its a good way of a club protecting an asset in such cases like this. But its also touches on the shitshow side of things as we seen with Sylla.

Mancini's lack of fitness and games could put buyers off so with a bit of luck he will be important in next season's push for promotion. KP's judgement of players appears to be very good so I am confident that he will assemble a squad to put in a push for promotion.

If Mancini has an offer from a League One club say, and wants to be away, then we cannot stand in his way.
The option is really only relevant if both parties agree to it, or if we get some kind of compo for waiving it if the player wants out, as we did with Sylla.
And of course in general there is absolutely no point in having an unhappy player who doesn't want to be here.[Umerah]
I think KP has already emphasised since he came in that he just doesn't want players who don't want to be at the club.
No brainer.

Hamstring injuries can be recurring and going by the games he missed it must have been a serious tear which might need surgery eventually or end up as a hernia which would require surgery.

Agent says I can double your wages at X club if these bastads don't force you to stay.
Not many off these contracts have benefited Pools in the past.
Just saying like it very rarely suits both parties.

We've had this exact discussion before Mr Poolie1 and you were wrong then and also wrong now. If he has an offer from a League 1 club and we exercise his option then yes we can stand in his way, unless the League 1 club come up with an offer which we find suitable to allow the transfer of the player. The option is pretty much always in the clubs favour, with the player agreeing to this in their original contract, therefore having legally agreed to the option they cannot reject it. You may end up with an unhappy player like you say but until a deal is agreed for them to leave they will remain a Hartlepool United player. Think of it as a 2 year contract with a break clause only the club can activate rather than a 1+1 year contract which both parties have to agree to.

He has a groin injury currently which the risk of doubles if not triples after a previous Hamstring injury. I think we rushed him back due to our position in the table, where he got us 6 points by himself, but have overworked him causing his current injury. I'd rather we were cautious with him now so as not to risk another long term injury which could ruin his career.

I think we have to tread carefully with Mancini over contracts. He has had a serious injury that will take time to recover and has already broken down once. On his return he was nowhere near fully fit and imo was disappointing, apart from his goal.

I Think Mancini personally should be rested fully until next season - get another half decent CM in or play this cooper kid we have.

tbh we have done just about okay without him in the side lets be honest! Having a fully fresh Dodds and Mancini in a KP side next season is worth much more than potentially putting him out for good for the sake of a few games or minutes !

i think we may not see him now until towards the end of the season maybe last 2 games...

Will Dodds be the same player though, he would need a full preseason friendly and plenty of training to get him match fit. Same with Mancini.

And plenty are not the same. We will just have to wait and see and not count our chickens. Our physio when interviewed a few weeks ago said Dodds could be out until September.

it does seem a very very bad Injury - ACL sometimes defines a player when coming back. Luke Williams for Instance wasnt the same player at all and never ever recovered from it. Hoping Dodds is young enough and with the right treatement and care comes back just as good. Pools' luck eh !

If he literally misses the pre season and does come back part way through the season - then it will take him another god knows how many games to get match fit and sharp. Might see him this time next year !

Remind me not to go on a holiday flight with you, by the time you’ve looked for possible faults on the aircaft the holiday will be over….look on the bright side, accentuate the positive.

Spot on, unless the last 2 games still involve a chance of a play-off place - after the 7 game unbeaten run bbolt
