Popular train of thought was that he was a decent midfielder and a crap right back.

I've heard two commentaries so far and he seems solid enough in the right back spot but then again on Saturday, Port Vale launched the ball up the middle at Sodje and Doncaster played through Coppinger on the other flank.

So what do you think?? Good signing or what?

Looks a good signing, in fact looked like a more mobile Mickey Barron against Donny. I'd say he is an improvement on Darren Williams.

Agreed. I don't think he's the type of player who will draw attention, just quietly get on with his job in an efficient way.

As long as he doesn't catch the eye of the experts on the terrace, when they need someone to slag off, he may be a very useful signing in a mundane but efficient way.

There's quite a contrast between right-sided midfielder-cum-full back Jamie Mac and his "this is the best move I've ever made" and right-sided midfielder-cum-full back Jack Ross and his "country roads, take me home, to the place, where I belong...."
Well I only saw Rossy once and I've only seen Jamie once and it's fair to say neither of them disappointed me on the field.
Mind, I'd prolly think differently if I'd seen THAT match where Ross got tortured by Arpal Sigh and sloped off ignominiously with an alleged injury in his last ever game in Pools colours.

I assume the less intellectually endowed thought as we'd sign a Scootish full back he would automatically be possessed by the spirit of the departed Mr Ross and perform in a similar way....
