Owner wants 20,000 (yes 20,000) fans to "lend" him (well the Club) £100 each in order to raise £2million by mid November. This to pay both HMRC bill and the players' wages for October.

Have you heard anything like it?

It's not Ron Martin of SARFend fame is it?
Why doesn't he put his hands into his own deep pockets - maybe he's got really short arms!

You don't own a club like the Wendies- and not have £2 million quid in your arse pocket- clearly another piss taker with ideas of grandeur - to have got involved there.

Surely they must have some saleable assets, a club that size.- if he really is on the bones of his arse!? sctatchinghead

He is Chinese, owned the Club since Jan 2015 (quite a while) and has cash flow problems - apparently.

A few years back the Chinese govt applied restrictions on money leaving China

It affected Wolves and possibly West Brom too

He probably has the money but can't bring it out of China

If he’s been there 8 years and funded the club, he’s hardly a fly by night.
I understand he originally did have trouble as stated but the tedious outcome was entitled fans turned on him …… and, cough..his family, which I suspect became a turning point for him.
Is it a case of ….’ OK Let’s see how much you care’
£100 ain’t exactly breaking the bank is it…especially if you were to gain representation on the board.

If you're calling on fans investment just to meet a wage bill for a month, you're in trouble.

better to ask the so called armchair fans to turn up to a few games and spend some money. the average fan who watches their club live does enough for me already by buying either a season ticket or matchday home ticket. thought football was a business. your local garage does not ask for your investment if they are having financial problems.

True, but if your local garage goes bust you go to another garage, if your cub goes bust……?

possibly many will find another club to support. somehow i cannot see all our missing fans taking the wife round the shops if they do not go to the vic. you may never have the same interest in a new club but you,ll certainly find it more relaxing by not being overly bothered who wins the game and your interest is only how exciting the game will be. possibly if you just enjoy watching football it might be better just watching games at random for your sanity if nothing else.

I confess to being a one club person, it’s like a marriage, ups and downs but you’re still together. If Pools disappeared tomorrow, any other club would have no meaning to me…unless a local replacement popped up, but that’s a poor substitute.

I agree with Snowy. I left Hartlepool in 1978 but still support Pools. If Pools folded ( God forbid), although I'm surrounded by alternative propositions, I wouldn't even contemplate supporting any of them.

have had a few marriages but only one football team. its a case of some can enjoy just watching a decent game without supporting one side over the other. over a season because of my lad i,ll see as many live games at stockport than pools. actually i find it relaxing by not giving a toss who wins the game. at the vic my blood pressure win or lose must be sky high kicking every ball and every emotion going through me. its so bad that driving can be relaxing after all those emotions. do not think i,m on my own as i doubt there would be many sky subscribers about if they only wanted to watch one team only.

Sky and the other subscription channels is a funny one. I don't subscribe to any of them. I have paid when Pools matches are on but I have yet to pay for any other matches in our league or the football league and there are plenty available, if Pools aren't involved. I'm talking about the probability of me supporting another club as being zilch but I might attend the local games if I was tempted, like I did when on holiday in Cornwall even if it was just for the fresh air. I travel about 200 miles on a round trip to see Pools at home and various distances to away games. I couldn't see me doing that to watch a match not involving Pools. Not on a regular basis anyway.

its really two completely different matchday experiances watching pools or a non pools game. i have tried loads of clubs in yorkshire and east lancashire some better than others and none have come close to pools. have enjoyed some of these games but in a similar way you enjoy some films at the pictures.

The only North East ground I’ve been to is Roker Park when we played the replay there in the early 70’..Scunthorpe??….my brother had a season ticket for the borers but he’s an idiot and I’m just a Poolie fundamentalist, proud of my town proud of my team (with exceptions) but what team isn’t….?

Of course it is. I've been to the venues within striking distance of where I live but rarely have I thought it was money well spent, mainly cos I don't feel involved, which is why I could never become a supporter of any of them. I do think the referees sometimes have a decent game though.

Did you not go to Feethams or the White Elephant when we played Darlo? Or to Ayresome Park when we played Boro in the league cup in 1986? Or Bootham Crescent when we played York (assuming you class York as the NE?), Or Scarborough when they were in the league in the 80s?

Feethams plenty of times…..same for York ….Gruesome Park no, working, White elephant, no but from work had to watch the buses picking up….with the obvious proviso that we played those teams on a regular basis…if Pools weren’t playing I wouldn’t be there.
I get your point, but the point I’m making is would I go there to watch a match not involving Pools …no
But there was another match at Sunderland don’t forget ….but I was on a job and duty comes first

"I will do my best for the Club, today & tomorrow" that's what he said at the end.

What about next week and next month etc?

Absolutely spot on Mr A.

I've lived out of town since '96 and I'm a one man club - nothing compares. It almost becomes part of your identity with the natives. The amount of times I get asked who my premier league team is, closely followed by a look of horror when I say I don't have one- if pressed, I now say palace which is always countered with 'Not Newcastle?'
Er, no!

In that time I've lived in Hull, London, Manchester, Bedford and now Kettering.
Been to games at Hull City, various London clubs (Millwall was my closest - which was scary- only went the once and deliberately chose southern opposition- Brizzle Rovers as really didn't want to get filled in!) Man City -pre money and a few of the East Midlands clubs with mates/ colleagues at the likes of Northampton, Forest, Leicester, Lootown and the now deceased Rust & Die (Rushden). Been to a few SARFend games with the missus and outlaws down the years too.

One of my brothers lives in Leeds and we normally try and do one ground a season, neither of us have been to, following Pools, as a neutral and make.a weekend of it on the ale- West Brom, Blackpool, Bratfud, The best one by a country mile was Crewe v Accrington about 10 years ago

We went in the away end, last away game of that particular season with about 200 Accrington fans in various different fancy dress- was absolutely hilarious - the Accy fans were superb and despite getting pummelled 5-1, had a conga train around the stand for most of the second half!

It all kicked off AFTER the match when the Accy No2 Jimmy Bell came over to clap the fans from the massive main stand, across the pitch towards the away fans in the stand opposite.

An over zealous steward was determined not to let him cross the pitch and basically rugby tackled him to the floor - which almost prompted a full scale pitch invasion of Umpalumpas, various super heroes, tarts, and a pissed tramp to name but a few. Even the plods present were stood back, pissing themselves laughing!

It has meant that me and my bro both now have a soft spot for Accy - and one ground I do want to visit at some point in the future, having not been there following Pools yet.

You are correct …… their manager Denis ‘stigma’ Smith was a bit wound up.

its funny you mention refs. you see a non pools game and see one you think is good. once they visit the vic and you see em they look completely different. had an uncle who lived in north london near a tube station and used to watch a game every saturday. just picked the game he fancied the most which could have been leyton orient or arsenal but avoided derby games because he said if you were not involved with either club they were poor games. think its what you want out of a football game yourself. one wants the full so called match experiance whilst another sees it like live theatre.
