Askey said the three midfielders who started were the only three available today. Dolan apparantly is having trouble breathing, possibly a rib injury: neeeds an x-ray. He made no excuses saying the players on the pitch should have had enough to have won the game. He bemoaned a player not marking his man which lead to the second goal. He again registered disbelief that the defenders were still not doing their jobs despite spending "too much" time on defensive drills. He said words to the effect that everyone knows their job but dont seem able to do them. He stressed the need to bring some more in to solve this problem. No hint that that anyone was stopping him from bringing people in, I guess it is a question of availabilty. On the whole he sounded thoroughly disillusioned. I guess if he was all smiles he would be getting pelters.

It sounds like he’s saying his players are a bit thick despite intense training….or the players are having trouble understanding what he wants them to do.
Really… sctatchinghead
If I can communicate with and train a stubborn Terrier like Ratboy, I’m certain a collection of footballers and their manager can find common ground to solve their problem too.

He basicly said "The players did not want it enough" reading between the lines.

I was not to pleased about the smirking at the begining of the interview.

It gives you the impression the players are not amused or impressed by their manager, surely not, but stranger things happen at sea.

That interview sounds like all the same crap, from every other manager who is clueless. Blaming everyone else for his tactics and team selection.
If the players aren't fighting for it, play the ones who are willing to do. Likes of Hastie, Paterson, Wreh, Stephenson, Storey and the rest of the kids, who stepped up last season. At this point they can't do any worse.

He has been fucked beyond belief with injuries, we were always a side with decent quality (for this level) but no depth---to have his entire midfield first choice 3 at start of season all with long term injuries as well as our best defender out for the season is an absolute pisstake.

I dont see anything beyond just a grinding miserable season--which hopefully doesnt collapse completely into a relegation battle.

Hope im wrong but looks like we heading into a freefall. Me pre season prediction of 5th bottom is looking bang on.
Are some still believeing next season we smash this division because the wages to Hartleys Dog n Duck players will of ran their contracts out and super JAs team is all his own players.

I suspect he will have the usual RS budget of replacing shit with shit.
Thats if he hasent been sacked.

Just listened to his interview, can’t really argue with any of it, tho I still think the amount of crosses we are conceding is a corcern

He basically said what we all know, dorkkng were fucking shite and the team should be pretty embarrassed at themselves for losing.

Sounds like he has had it with a few of them.

Really need a couple of new lads in midfield as I say this week or we are fucked

what annoys me is that this is perfectly true but the players do not realise it. The attitude of them has been around well before JA entered the club like marking players at set pieces and not putting a real shift in. Even if you are playing at a standard above your ability its easy to mark a man and put 100 per cent into your time on the pitch even if its just making a nuicence of yourself. One thing though is i,m sick of hearing him saying he wants more new bodies into the club. Think we know what these bodies will be, more bloody kids out of youth football thats played more with tecnique in mind than workrate and heart. The whole thing at the moment is like turning the clock back 12 months but with different excuses in how we have got into this state.

Its past blaming the players now and the new bodies will be no better than what we have already got that is absolutely nailed on. WHY?
Because all the decent players get snapped up in pre season.
The majority of the Recruitment is horrendous.
Sometimes team spirit and 100% effort can overide the lack of skill but that disappeared in the 2nd half at Chesterfield and dosent look like comeing back anytime soonish.
Good news:
Lovely weather time to take the dogs Scamp n Chip for a nice walk.

Watch again starts at 12 secs.
He should have been bouncing, Or better still should have someone by the throat at HT. (you only have to do it once) and the rest fall into place.

Why not. At the end of the day he came off the bench against Barnet and made the difference in the team. He ran at the defence and scored a goal, the few minutes later got the penalty.
I don't get this motion of Scottish players are crap. We've had a lot of good Scottish players for us in the past.

Apparently some regard it as a foreign country that produces crap players.
Bollocks of course.

Of course. The amateur psychologists have had a field day this weekend. Like the idea that Sweens sitting in the dug out looking thoroughly pissed off at the end of the game was directed at Askey - rather than players he has spent weeks trying to coach bad habits out of!

That said, it might have been a better idea to bring in a defensive coach rather than another director of footballer. Askey was an attacker in his playing days and Sweeney an attacking midfielder.

I think maybe Sweens was keeping away from the players, because he may have chinned 1 or 2.
And who could blame him.

You have to WANT IT otherwise you end up with saturday.

He's probably smirking as he has to say the same thing every week to the press.
He's been consistent in wanting more players from before the season even started and what type of players he wanted, none have come in that match that description. We've instead replaced Dodds with Hendrie and Mancini with Aghatise while losing another 2/3 midfielders.
Even if you don't think Askey is the man for the job you have to admit that we are in dire need of reinforcements no matter who the manager is.
