Taken from the National League website -

National League North but there’s plenty of fast starters.

Scunthorpe United go top after a 4-0 win over pointless Darlington clappp

Made me chuckle- in both senses of the word, pointless! rolf

Didn't know they were on tour - love a bit of James- what a band they were back in the day!

I'll never forget the irony of not being able to get a ticket for the game when we mullered them after Effion scored his worldie!

In what other stadium of that size do you have a SELL OUT crowd of 10k- yet still have 17k+ empty seats. Only in Loidland!

And they wondered why they went pop sctatchinghead

Say it again.
Should of just redeveloped Feethams.
Looks like they in a rut n EFL return is a million miles away.
Expecting the 800 traveling S Shields fans next week to be celebrating a victory.

Not sticking at Feethams was a disaster, you build new stadiums if you have success, ‘build it and they will come’ was just Hollywood bullshit.
All down to George’s ego…another benevolent owner who quickly crumbled when success didn’t come immediately and couldn’t handle the fan’s concern.
Hollywood could have made a film of it …’FIELD of BOLLOCKS’…how ego and pie in th sky visions can break a football club and the fans hearts in one go.

Or even if Darlo council supported him instead of putting endless obstacles in his path.
Shame they prefer the big white elephant to be as it is rather than a hub of activity for the town.

I don’t think anyone with any semblance of intelligence can take pleasure in their situation, it’s very much ‘ there but for the grace of god etc’. I’ve said it before but it’s worth repeating; they are our uglier twin brother. A North Eastern football club with a history of unsuccessfulness apart from the occasional glimpse of light. Sound like any other club closer to home?

The other point worth mentioning is that season after season, the biggest games in the history of both clubs has been against the other.

They are pretty fucked without a ground.
Just going to circle the drain with gradually lower and lower crowds as the fans used to league football diminish.

Yes we are lucky it’s not us as it’s a pretty wretched existence without investment or a new ground

Thanks for all the confidence in the club..it's surprising how a roll of wins can make you puff your chests out on the matter.....and hardly a mention of any of our ex chairman sctatchinghead ..some amazing foresight into the future though.

Do you not remember the new stand they put in at Fleethams- (before moving to the Echo chamber)? When in their wisdom they decided not to bother putting any proper drainage in?
Everytime it rained after that the pitch resembled the Somme.

This then led to one of the funniest incidents ever- Thommo the groundsman along with Gorgeous George decided that what they needed was WORMS! And so they covered the pitch in about 2 tonne of worms - needless to say the poor little buggers all drowned- on what became to be known as the Worm Holocaust!

As I said previously - only in Loidland!

Also quite sad that a whole generation on both sides of the battle line haven't witnessed a league game between us- You'd have to be at least 25 to remember the infamous spanking we gave them at the Echo Chamber.

I used to feel sick with nerves on the morning of Derby day. Just hope they can get their shit together sooner, rather than later as I kind of miss them!

yeh its sad--I think the last time they finished above us in a league was the year they beat us in the playoffs, so 23 years and counting, dont think they have beaten us in something like 21 years as well but maybe wrong

We might have very little silverware to go with the Play Off final trophy but we do possess the much coveted Comcast Cup- (for younger readers- I think was introduced in the late nineties and presented to the winner of Pools v darLOW) rolf

I used to hate the derby games, even if we won it was a case of "thank f**k thats over with".
Been that long now I guess I might even feel different about it since football is no longer the be all and end all in my life!

It was the 3-0 win at the White Elephant Arena in 2007, the year Danny W got us back up to League One, and Eifion's finest hour. Always worth a little reminder:

One of my favourite ever days watching Pools - never would have guessed though that we'd not play the auld enemy again. The young lads in the NWC still sing "We hate Darlo" - keeping up a tradition that's pretty meaningless without competitive games between the two clubs to look forward to.

My sentiments exactly. It was a mustn’t lose at any cost slog and was solely about the bragging rights, the football was irrelevant all that mattered was the win regardless of the quality.

'He who is tired of a derby game is tired of life' - true of a lot of football fans, at any rate.

more meaningless when the vast majority of them will not or at best remember us playing them. they might still be singing it by the time they pick up their pension the way things are going. if only we could get em in the trophy at the vic this season to renue things. i have personally got a funny take on darlo. always want us to do the double on them, be higher in the league but would be quite happy for them to be runners up to us where both clubs are promoted.
