I've just returned from sunny Las Vegas, it was bloody brilliant, although I did miss the first home game of the season, it was 7:00am in Vegas as I loaded the Sky Sports Score Centre on the rooms tv internet connection to monitor the game!!

I know americans get a load of stick sometimes, but they were the friendliest bunch of people I've come across in many a year, coming back to the uk has been a bit depressing, all our service industry workers since I landed have been as miserable as sin. We could take a huge leaf out of the american style of customer service.

"Your welcome"

My brother and his family live out there in Boston and think it's great.

I keep meaning to visit but haven't yet as something else has cropped up every year to spend the money on.

Next year I'm going to try and get out there.

The 10 hour flight was a bit of a worry before we went, but to be honest it was fine. I watched three fillums back to back on the way home and the time went really quickly.

It was 40oC + every day and with the exchange rate so good it was very very cheap to buy stuff. So cheap in fact I'm considering popping over to New York do to christmas shopping.

I've just booked to take the wife to London for her birthday in November.

I've probably missed a trick as it would have no doubt been cheaper to take her to NY instead.

Well my early research is showing £500 per person to fly from manchester to JFK on December 21 and back on christmas eve.

I don't think it would be cheaper, but buy the time you've bought presents for all your family (and anyone else), I bet the totals will be very similar.

I went to New York last July for a week.

After four days I was bored rigid. Four days was good like but I ran out of stuff to do, so I did a tour of the Irish bars. That was fun.

I have been to the states twice and loved it both times.

The best country in the world to visit. And they love the Brits out there.

I have been to the States both with the Armed Forces and on holiday close on 20 times and to all different areas, don't think that the Yanks are all Brit friendly in all areas.

Places like Florida, Las Vegas & LA are fine and as you say they all love the Brits, when you get outside of the tourist resorts the attitude changes. Places like Baltimore & New York they could not give a schite about us, in Richmond, Washington & Long Beach the welcome was very hostile from the men but the girls seemed just fine.

Best places I have been for holidays must include Ecuador (3 weeks holiday and I came home with £50 more than when I left), Brazil (stunning girls, weather & beaches), BVI (unspoilt Caribbean beauty)& Australia. I am now saving hard to go visit mainland China after seeing the links Kev posted on here.,

You don't have to spend so much here Mr Monkey. Once you've got your flight money you've got 75% of what you need.
