Wouldn't it be ironic and funny? If Pools were do a number on Stockport and Tranmere beat Northampton come next Monday. Stockport don't get automatic promotion spot and fail miserably in the playoffs? Just a thought  A point will do Pools. Or of course Northampton put it to bed at Tranmere and Stockport fail miserably in the play offs. The first option would be better.

You forget Stockport beat Pools 5-0 at the Vic earlier in the season, we will be very fortunate to come away with anything.

sctatchinghead Only if Crawley get beat on Saturday then get 4 points deducted for some as yet unknown infringement of the rules.

Couldn't care less what happens to Stockport - just hope our final game in the League (for now) isn't another thrashing.

What I do care about is Notts County finally winning a play-off final and getting the hell out of the National League for next season.

You forget Pools got beat 3-1 at Barrow last November but we beat them by the same score….we probably will get beat but past scores are no guideline to anything.

Yep not that bothered about challinor
Both Stockport and wrexham have a
Lot of money and some of their fans are being arseholes about it, just human nature

I don’t blame challinor for leaving, but he did over egg his afinity for us, he basically was keen for a move nearer home for more pay and was angling after
One for months

The voice of good sound common sense. Stockport desperate for the points and Pools nowt to play for. Stockport superior all over the pitch. Pools defence notoriously vulnerable. The only thing in Pools favour is if Stockport feel the pressure. If an early goal goes in I fear an absolute hammering.

It will probably end up a goalless draw that neither team has managed all season.

I’m busy filing the points on his incisors at the prospect, would help if Mr Ozzy give his nether region a light dusting of gravy powder….. thanking you in anticipation

a display like the second half last saturday will suit me no matter what the final result is. the fixture says its stockport county v hartlepool united and not challinor v askey. challinor is in pools past and thats it. at least he gave us some good memories unlike many pools managers have apart from bad ones. anyway they lost 2-3 to barrow, we beat em 3-1 therefore we are 3goals better than them so whats to worry about

I'll settle for a respectable score line but fear something less so, considering our defence and Stockports ability and style of play. I recall Askey saying we have players who can play but this doesn't happen when teams put us under pressure like Crawley did. Barrow stood off which is why we looked good. I am paraphrasing a little. One thing for sure is Stockport wont stand off us and wont allow us to play like Barrow did. The conclusion is that Pools wont look back on this fixture with any satisfaction.

If Challinor gets Stockport promoted he will be ‘head hunted’ by other club, he won’t hang about if a better offer comes along.

If DC gets them promoted yeh i can see him being one of the Championship clubs first appointments - who knows Everton might come in for him as they look bound for the drop just now

yeh and we have been stitched up good with a televised Sky last game of the season - im guessing its for Stockport and the drama surrounding their fait rather than the Jeff Stelling Hartlepool and what feck all left we have to play for

hope the players realise that and put a good shift in to try to upset the reason the game is televised in the first place. just give it all and play the game as it was intended and not overnight play like 11 shithouses like some of our opponents have this season to get a result.

I watched the brief highlights of Orient v Stockport on You Tube. Three towering headers from pinpoint crossses spoiled the Orient Championship celebration. Makes me more apprehensive about Pools prospects. We dont stop crosses and dont have centre backd that win headers. I know the game means nowt to us but I would rather Pools weren't humiliated.

at least they,ll let us off the hook in one way as they do not constantly use long throwins at every single opportunity.

I'm not expecting a promotion party on Monday. Can see Northampton going a couple of goals up early doors resulting in a packed but very flat Edgeley park. And for those of you fearing a drubbing it's not really something we do at home, we put 4 past Newport a few weeks ago which was a rarity then laboured to a very boring 1-0 win against a frankly dire Dale side. Yes we had a good result away to the champions last Saturday but Orient were basically playing in their flip flops. Even if Tranmere did us an unlikely favour by holding Northampton it would be very Countyesque to shoot ourselves in the foot by not doing the business at home to an already relegated side. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Connor Jennings get's on the scoresheet either! From our perspective it's good we still have a slim chance on the last day, but it is just that, a very slim chance

A coach that's been there for the last 3 sacked manager's doesn't scream inspirational appointment. Tranmere fans certainly aren't happy about it.

You will be at least 2 up by half time and likely 4 or 5 up by the end

Tranmere fans are never happy, unless the ref gifts them a pen that’s clearly outside the box, cost us 2points that twat.

This is an odd one this match, some are anticipating a Turkey shoot and some are thinking what if….I’ll admit I’ve been expecting the dreaded Turkey shoot for months but now….we’ll you never know…we travel in hope.

feel much more confident about the team putting up a decent show and getting something out of the game than i was at newport and especially at salford where normal service there was resumed.

Can't see anything other than a heavy defeat.
We all know we can't play against teams who press & don't give us time on the ball.
We looked decent against Barrow,as they just didn't bother in the 2nd half, tomorrow will be completely different.

The odds would suggest that…but if the odds were to be believed we could all have won the pools years ago based on the odds, it’s a funny old game and you travel in hope…it’s what we do.

with the stupid kick off time and having to get up earlier than normal any defeat will not feel as bad as we,ll be half asleep watching it. just hope of some interest where both teams do not go in sideways mode.

Remember years ago when Carlisle who were top came to town and took over the Mill House and made their presence felt in the then shambles of a Vic? They won 5-1 with Skeddy replying for Pools. Later on with the league leadership beckoning, Pools went there and won 1-0 courtesy of Keith Houchen. I think Carlisle had 3 games left and all at home and almost managed to blow winning the division. The 1-5 and 1-0 reversal would make lovely paralells for this season. Don't care who scores just beat them on their own patch Pools and go down with a bit of pride and silence the fawning Sky crew. I wonder if Paddy Madden will stick around if they don't go up. Deranged individual signing off with hope.

know its a bit late now but anyone reading this who are going to the match there is some important info for you. anyone who has been there before need to know you do not enter or leave the ground where you used to do. pass that street and with the ground to your right walk up to a new housing estate , turn right and follow the yellow brick road to the turnstiles. sorry this is late but i just forgot about it.

Well done Pools and especially Ben Killip. The final game for some of our players. A bit like after Torquay in a way. Am not ashamed to say I enjoyed seeing DC lose a bit of cool and shouting at one of his players at the end. Now make my day and summer and make sure Salford and Stockport stay in Div 2. Thanks Pools and Northampton Town.

I'd be slightly worried if I'd spent all that money and you couldn't beat an already relegated team in front of a full house, when Pools had left out half of the team.

if tranmere had been a couple of goals up at half time the end result might have been different. the stuffing seemed to have been knocked out of the team as well as the fans by the score over there at half time where the end result of the game was meaningless.
