Sound like a good idea?

Let's say that we all get to cast one vote each for Man of the Match for every game?

End of the season, the player who won most times is our Player of the Season.

Simple?

Any objections?

Anybody see a problem apart from the fact that people will be able to vote who weren't at the match?

Cool.

I've set a poll thread up Mr MJ.

Although I haven't for the away games cos I was on holiday and otherwise engaged so don't even know what team he put out :uhoh:

Can you do those two?

I've set them up now.

Got the line ups from tinterweb.

Had to make a judgement call on who not to include in the voting process as I wasn't there.

It's up to yous if you want to vote on matches you didn't attend, eg using radio commentary as a guide, but personally I'm only gonna vote on the matches I actually see!

Yes, I object. It's not fair  .
What if, for the sake of argument , Godwin was just one behind on the winning votes, but every week he didn't win he came second? or if a number of people shared the winning vote, but someone outside that number came second every single week?

Just thought I'd bring that up :uhoh:

Well it's quite simple.

If he doesn't win the most weekly votes he doesn't win Player of the Season.

Which part of that is tricky for the female brain to comprehend?

Let's have none of this pussyfooting about saying second can be first nonsense please.
Being a winner is all about winning.
And since we're talking about upwards of fifty games I reckon that if one player wins more times than any other, which might be 12 times or more, he deserves the season award even if Godwin is second every single week. Anyway he's out for a month.

Golf fans will of course recognise this as an example of match play versus stroke play.
Just make sure you don't stroke anyone up the wrong way and don't throw your spent matches out the window.

How about we give the players ratings then add them all up and divide it by the number of games played in the season get an average ovr the year.

Because that would be easier for dickheads to knack up, eg giving certain players 10 every week or other players 1 just to try and bugger things up.

Why do folk try and have to make the simplest things complicated? stpid

Sigh.
Right....imagine there are 100 fans and the season is 10 weeks long.
In the 1st week 40 fans vote for Ben C, 42 for Ritchie H and 18 for Gary L
For the entire 10 weeks, Ben gets the same number of votes as he did in the 1st, but Ritchie and Gary's votes alternate. 2nd week it's Gary who gets 42 and Ritchie 18, 3rd week back to RH42/GL18, and so on until the last two games when Ritchie's score is 42 both times.

Because Ritchie has won most weeks, he gets Player of the Season. However, more people voted for Ben

Right, so Ritchie was the best player of the game more often than any of his team mates?? In the majority view on the day? On each day Ben was only second best to whoever?? But you want to give the award to the second best player in every match?? sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

I think it's something to do with if you like one handbag a little better than another, but your favourite is maybe a little bit too garish then after walking 17 miles to go in every shop three times you should get your second favourite cos it might not upset as many people?

I'll tell you what would perhaps be an interesting tweak. Allow a vote for "no one" in games in which we were truly dreadful. If there are more "no one" votes than there are for a named player, then don't give victory to anyone that week. And if Ben Clark is second he will be considered third.

Hopefully it will work like a charm and stop us ever being truly dreadful
