The team selection was a little bit surprising today but thankfully we got a result.

Budtz - Had a few dodgyish moments with a slippy ball but did enough to keep his place.

McCunnie - Made a lot of intellegent precise passes, he looks very skinny but he did well.

Elliott - Woeful passing, woeful set pieces - shape up. On that performance if he hadn't been sent off he could of well been dropped anyway.

Nelson - Did ok against a reasonably decent attack.

Antwi - Scored and played well

Boland - Covered alot of ground, worked really hard, I'm glad he's in our team.

Liddle - Everyone knows how good this lad is.

Robson - Played ok but some poor decision making by him could of been more costly.

Brown - He frustrates me sometimes because he tries to do too much. He had an ok game overall but he made the wrong decision a few times in the 2nd half.

Barker - Won a lot of flick ons, battled but he needs someone better than Moore to play alongside him.

Moore - i just don't get why he's in the team. Take him out Wilson - lets see if he has the charachter to play well and get his place back.

Subs

Porter - Looked lively at times, Wilson please play him ahead of Moore.

Clark - One or two dodgy moments - but he wasn't on long....

Agree to most of that Jonny but i think we have finally found ourselves a good competent left back. Obviously you dont!

I also think our fans are quick to get on the back of attackers if they dont score straight away, i agree Porter should be in the team but it doesnt make Moore crap, if he is in the team we should get behind hi and give him a chance after all its only 3 games into a very long season !

Moore offered very little - attackers are supposed to score and create. Wilson should of started someone else in front of him, we were lucky to get away with it. hopefully there is a lot more to come from Moore but like someone said in another thread Pools looked a lot more threatening when he went off......

I may be way off the mark here but wouldn't Moore be more useful as a winger?

It was actually Matty who gave the ball away for their goal (again)

To be fair though it is great to see him attacking as it does give us some pace.

Agree with what you say Jonny. I thought Boland was awesome

if thats the case its a pointless signing then as he was played there by burnley and leeds as he could not produce up front.

Agreed too - apart from Elliott. I thought he had a really good game apart from some dodgy set pieces. As a left back he looked very steady.

I thought Elliot did ok

Moore was a dissappointment, anonymous for most of the time he was on

Antwi was awesome - by far our best signing of the summer

Elliot was poor and the sending off deserved if you grabbed someone round the neck as he passed you and you were on one booking already that is just pure stupidity
his set pieces came to nothing and the one shot he had did not even hit the stand
ANTWI EXCELLENT DESPITE BEING INJURED
BUTZ NEEDS TO LEARN TO CATCH A BALL AND COME OFF HIS LINE
MOORE WAS PROCTOR IN DISGUISE
MATTY STILL CAN'T CROSS A BALL
BOLAND WAS SUPERB
McCUNNIE CAN'T MAKE MY MIND UP
NELSON WAS MOM EASY
BROWNIE HAD ALL THE TOUCHES IF SOME TIME JUST HELD ON TO LONG
BARKER HELD THE BALL UP WELL
LIDDLE A CLASS ACT ANY WHERE ON THE PARK
BOTH SUBS DID WELL ENOUGH IN THE TIME THEY WERE ON ESPECIALLY JOEL
WE BOSSED THE FIRST HALF WITH JUST THE ONE GOAL TO SHOW AND IT WAS NEVER GOING TO BE ENOUGH
THEY CAME STRONG IN THE SECOND HALF AND WE DID WELL TO HOLD OUT
DEFINITELY A PENALTY
REF WAS AS POOR AS

Butdz: I was worried about his flapping, apart from that he didn’t have much to do.
McCunnie: McCunnie did the job, great cross for the goal.
Nelson: Was solid and never troubled even did two 360 turns.
Antwi: Antwi really did look different class, this lad is going to become a massive star.
Elliott: Terrible set pieces, if only Humphreys was taking the set pieces. His distribution was poor. Didn’t notice his defending much but I guess it was ok.
Brown: Played well but sometimes he took one touch too many.
Boland: It’s great having a player like Boland in the team, he breaks up play so well and gets things going.
Liddle: Liddle did well, just another normal game for him.
Robson: Ok for this first 70 minutes then his decision making went to pot for 10 mins. Recovered well after that spell though.
Barker: Won headers but nobody was there to read the flick-ons.
Moore: Not the right kind of player to play alongside Barker, they don’t compliment each other at all.

Porter: I thought what he did to put Brown through for the penalty was class. Looked lively in the time he was on.
Clark: Slotted in well.

Agreed re Moore/barker.

They looked like a very toothless attack. We only had two decent efforts on target today (one a penalty)

There is still not quite enough creativity there. Moore is just another Proctor and there is no way he is worth 1 million rolfl . To be totally honest I would rather have Porter or Foley alongside Barker instead. Give Mackay a season and im sure he will offer as much as Moore does ie a lot of effort but little else.

Antwi was holding his ham string after about twenty minutes when he was let down by Butz not coming off his line

I wish you and Moore well but he's a strker who never scores. We currently have strkers who appear less gifted and cost nowt (ish) but score .

In the commentary Mickey Barron said Antwi had done his groin in the challenge and signalled to be subbed straight away. Luckily, and this is why Danny Wilson signed defenders, we have great cover these days. In the same situation last season we lost Liddle from midfield and most of our shape.

Or the season before when they had to play on and were fooked for the rest of the season afterwards.

Chip the answer to your question is Moore will get one more game. Wilson seems to allow three matches or so for a formation to prove itself. I have no problem with that because it means he won't revert to it easily if it he decides to change it. And if he doesn't decide to change it it will be because it has clicked.

Well at last I know why he was sent off. From where we were sitting, that wasn't obvious, and we couldn't see what happened from the Championship this a.m. either.
(Looking out for our ex-players on the Championship but it unfortunately featured Adam missing a pen and Dimi letting in a goal sadx )

I thought Elliott defended well. There were a couple of occasions where he was one-on-one with an opponent and made a perfect tackle under pressure. We've not had a left-back for years who's been comfortable in that sort of situation.

Agree with most about Moore/Barker up front - Moore works his socks off but there's not been much end result so far, and Barker's excellent work winning headers is often wasted because Moore is not in the right positions - I'd definitely start with Joel who will link up with Barker much better and provide more attacking threat. Having Moore and Foley on the bench would be useful.

I'd have to start Humphreys on the left wing as well. Positionally and passing-wise he's a class above Matty, who can be effective but a bit naive at times. Humphs would provide more support for Elliott meaning he could get on with defending.

and Liddle - no doubt that he's a class act but he didn't do enough for me yesterday. I get the feeling he coasts through games occasionally, and when you've got Boland alongside you, you should be getting forward and doing more than he did. just wondered if anyone agreed?

Last season, did anyone ever imagine our bench for the 1st home game this season would consist of Humphreys, Clark, Sweeney and Porter? it's a bit mental.

Someone asked him in the Pools Bar after the match how bad his injury was and he just said that it wasn't too bad.

My cousin was over the moon as well as his name was drawn out to present Antwi the man of the match trophy
