Beaten tonight in the Scottish Cup by Darvel, a sixth tier club in what they are saying is the biggest shock in the 149 years of the competition.

or the game at the top up there is no better than the league of wales if you take the two glasgow giants out of it. the summer signings show some proof of that.

It’s only what Singhs budget allowed, cut price signings.
Give Darvel their due they could have switched the game to Kilmarnock albeit a plastic pitch and made some extra cash but stuck with their own ground. Falkirk next at home, I think they will stick to their ground hoping a victory could get them a next round tie against one of the big 2.

A closed pyramid has really hurt Scottish football. No surprise that Berwick, East Stirlingshire, Brechin and Cowdenbeath have all struggled since leaving the league. Theirs more ambitious clubs up there now, but the pyramid needs to be connected better. No more B teams in the lowland league, make sure the best supported and best ranked junior clubs like Darvel are there instead.

Some cracking junior clubs up in Scotland, nice grounds, very nice pies (especially at Darvel). Hopefully the armchair fans might start watching them over the Glasgow twosome

I understand Aberdeen are going through some turmoil, so maybe not so surprising.

It's a proper good Cupset this!!

To translate it in to English it would be like Fylde (top of tier 6, and doped with £) beating Spurs (5th in Premier league and blowing hot and cold)

As that game was played in 1885 they'd probably have to be about 149 years old to remember that particular match.

I watched the game on beeb website. Darvel were so much better than Aberdeen in the 1st half. 2nd 45, Don's improved and were the better side, but maybe deserved a draw because of the wrongly disallowed goal.

could be the case of football at the bottom of their pyramid is much cloer to their premier league as it is in this country.
