Yes it's true, yet another player that would improve our squad will be improving somebody else's.

I am guessing Johnson will become a Mansfield first teamer as they have sold Hawkins and Lapslie to Gillingham. If the Stags were considering selling him, the form he is in would mean he would command a large fee which I suspect is beyond Pools.

Now is Raj chance to put all the smooth talk to one side and don as he promised and get in players like Johnson or Armstrong proven goal scorers at this level to get us out of trouble, at Gillingham on Saturday you could see the difference the new players especially in attack have made. Please no more excuses just do something.

Never say never cas according to the Mansfield end both Pools & Colchester both interested in the player today. Clougie said the board are considering approaches from a few teams. He also said he is not sure Johnson will score for Mansfield cas of the way they play and he said the problem is if he plays him once and he doesnt fit he can then only go back to Walsall until end of season basically killing any other teams interest until end of season. I reckon he is deffo going to one of the interested teams & not staying at Mansfield. The only question is will Raj go full out to get him cas he really should be banging that drum load n clear.

inless they sign replacements for the two that have left he is going nowhere at the moment. anyway a fee is mentioned so lets forget about him and be more realistic.

Yep, Wherever Johnson goes, it wont be to Pools. He scores goals so a lot of teams will be interested in him if Mansfield choose to sell.

Walsall have had a bid rejected by Mansfield, So must be willing to let him go if the price is right.

I can’t see Pools paying a fee for any player so that rules Johnson out I think.

You'd think with the goals he had scored, Walsall would have put a decent bid in to keep him. Can you see Raj going even higher, before you take wages into account?

If you like a player who speaks very highly of himself and won,t track back, Then Johnson is your man.

I think most of us would settle for that if he scores 30 goals a season which he is on track for if he stays injury free. Anyway, it is all hot air cos he wont be signing for us.

Well according to latest news he turned down one club who met Mansfields valuation. Still another 4 or 5 left including Pools. I reckon he turned down the move South to Colchester. Walsall made a offer but not enough. Nigel Clough said if Johnson had said he loved it at Walsall it would be a different matter but he never. Reading between the lines I do believe we are after him and at 29yrs he wants to come home.

As has been said so often on here, "Its the hope that kills you".

I cant help thinking that if he really wanted to come to Pools the deal would be done by now.

Needs to be sorted before the weekend, cause if he’s picked for Mansfield on Saturday
He will only be able to play for Mansfield or Walsall the rest of the season.

Although if a deal is close to being done, surely Cloughie would be told not to pick him.

Think he does not fit Cloughies system and I believe he wants him away but wants to recoup a chunk of the recent transfer fees he paid for new players. Cloughie is not the type of manager to stand in a players way if he wants out but he ain't daft either and wants a good all round solution for all involved.

Certainly been about, 13 clubs, started at the Boro then moved to Pools Youth team but was released.
Local lad so he might be interested in coming back to the N.E., prolific scorer when playing for Guisborough Town and Gateshead but never really was prolific when moving to the League proper, is he the answer ?

Think he can be registered for three clubs but can only play in official matches for two clubs.
Fifa made a temporary change during covid, Gray area though.

Pick the bones out of this:

Guidance

Registration of Players - FIFA Article 5.3 - Three & Two Rule

In accordance with FIFA Regulations a Player may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play in official matches for two clubs. As an exception to this rule, a player moving between two clubs belonging to different associations with overlapping seasons (i.e. start of the season in summer / autumn as opposed to winter/spring) may be eligible to play in official matches for a third club during the relevant season, provided he has fully complied with his contractual obligations towards his previous clubs.

Clubs are advised that domestically the above applies to all registrations except Non- League, Short Term and Youth Loans, although Foreign Associations may include these loans as counting towards the rule. Clubs should take this into account should a Player in these circumstances be considering a move to another Association, whether on a temporary or permanent basis. More detailed guidance is published on the Club Portal on a season by season basis – please refer to the Player Administration Section of the service.

44.5 No Player may play in any competition organised by The League unless and until his registration has been so approved.

Curle confirmed his interest and has spoken to player and agent.

The outcome of the conversation was that he is not interested in coming to Pools.
