A bit of a bollock dropped when they renamed their West Stand’ after a sponsorship deal.

The sponsor is a company called Gilbert and Rose. Their press release announced that the stand would now be called ‘The ‘Gilbert and Rose West stand. I suppose the Peter Sutcliffe terrace will follow in due course.

they must have been either blind or bloody thick not to notice that before it was announced. if pools did get a multy billionaire backer he is bound to be from the middle east called idi amin or a yank called peter sutcliffe. you can see it now, The Idi Amin arena.

If he's a multi billionaire and backs Pools, he can call the stadium feethams for all I care, cos to me it will always be THE VIC. :laugh:

it is too everyone home and away that enters the ground. if firms are stupid enough to pay for the naming rights of a football ground where no one that enters ever calls it that then good luck to them and the clubs that receive this money. always wonder where the money goes to after these people buy the naming righs to grounds and stands. never seems to make much difference for the fans and the type of signings that are made anywhere.

Got to be the most embarrassing name ever the Wankdorf stadium wait for it the home ground of Young Boys in the swiss league!!!!

with a couple of names like that associated with one club i,m surprised crewe never arranged a pre season friendly there.

I think these naming rights are a great way to milk gullible companies….. no matter what they name it, even the Terry Plywood Budgerigar Sperm Donor Charity Stadium is irrelevant because as Mr Derwent says it’s the Vic to us and always will be. The sponsors benefit is getting their name on nationwide media outlets, so a win for both party’s. Kerching.

People rarely change what they call things.
In Greatham there were three pubs Smiths (top) Bull & Dog (middle) and Hope & Anchor (bottom).
The Smiths closed years ago but the other two remain being called the middle and bottom and will do forever.
What is a bit scary is when someone sends you a text saying "fancy a quick one in the bottom"
