times change, and I have to say in thirty years time I would be amazed if it was still here.
In thirty years time, I will be amazed if I am still here. sadx

It had its heyday in the 60's ad 70's but now its just as ECG says, a 'chavfest'.

Mind you it always was a load of bollocks, it was great as a kid but only for the fair. Never for the parade.

My Gran lives on Durham street and I was round her house on Sunday, she was dissapointed that her annual trip to the front step was rewarded by TWO floats!! What's the point!? I remember when I was a kid there being shit loads.

I think its had its day.

I was amazed to see in tonights Mail my old school mate Dave Oliver taking part in the Nutty Slack race. A 53 year old taking on 2 lads of 20ish. Not a bad way to 'earn' 40 quid for 20 mins work, they split the prize money between them.

There was a time when I wouldn't have missed the Carnival Parade, but I can't honestly remember the last time I saw it. By the sounds of reports on here it wouldn't be greatly missed.

EVEN BEFORE THEN I REMEMBER WHEN YOU WAITED THREE DAYS FOR THE BUS QUEUE TO GO DOWN
LITERALLY THOUSANDS ALMOST EVERY DAY
SO POPULAR THEY HAD A PARADE MID WEEK TOO
PEOPLE HAVE TOO MANY DISTRACTIONS NOW AND THE SHOWMEN ARE PRICING THEM SELVES OUT
