No, I’m not referring to what positions we need to fill, I’m referring to something way more important, their character. Out with my black fell terrier (educated Patterdale) and he got a sniff and was off. No stopping him and as he tried but failed, I had to marvel at the sheer dogged determination to carry on the chase even though it was obvious his digging was too late and thought to myself would it be possible to transplant that sheer drive and will to win and the never give up attitude into Pool’s players, as you you need to be a winner and have a winner’s mentality even when you’ve lost, because for us it’s been lacking for years.
Oh it’s nice to have tidy boys with tidy ability and tidy skills but an input of controlled determination is vital to win anything….. no team of tidy boys won anything unless you value being runners up…..even concrete needs a steel backbone and we desperately need steel, complete with drivers and bosses communicating and ‘encouraging’ the more faint hearted.
I like a dressing room of raised voices not sympathetic commiserations.
