This means it wasn't an option taken but a new contract signed to extend his stay at the club for an extra year on what I imagine will be different terms.

...you "imagine"...about right...so every "new deal" is a "new contract" according to you..is that right?..do you work for the fail per chance ?..err..ok pal...but mols signed an 12 month extension to an existing contract last time around..that's not a "new contract"...that's an extension to an existing contract.. an option to extend..agreed by both parties..but you can call it a new deal if you want...but it will not have an option to extend it and somehow force him to stay

Not every extension is a new contract. As has happened with Killip and Grey they have had a clause within their contract which extends their existing deal for an extra year. This also happened with Shelton and Timi last season hence why they are now both out of contract as we have to negotiate a new deal with each. However in Molyneuxs case it wasn’t a clause that was activated but a new deal (as stated on the club website) which was negotiated to keep him at the club. This could mean that deal contains a unilateral option (fingers crossed on this) or it could not.

2.UEO anyways are legally unenforceable in uk law...options are in fact in reality only ever bilateral agreements....

We were asked to re-tube a sun bed in the 80’s, never done one before but it was a doddle and installed the tubes we were given and sealed the beds up. Turned em on and no one noticed for two weeks the tubes were just bog standard fluro’s. No one complained.

How many years did we wait for say a good manager to come along in DC. From the previous really good manager we had. I fear our luck isnt there with this one and we may be in that twilight zone of testing untested managers again until we get it right. Williamson sounds like hes going in as a favourite atm - another Spike scenario im afriad with that one

Phil Brown. Not sure whats happened with his career tbh hasnt seemed to of done anything with his last 4 clubs. Wouldn’t be against Williamson! Gateshead play some really exciting stuff but he’s only had 1 full season in management and they do play against part time teams…

Trouble is, there’s no ‘business’ like football management for rewarding failure and giving ‘one last chance’ to people who have visibly proven their only talent in football is persuading gullible owners they can do a job and get selected. It ‘s like interviewing for a ship’ captain whose previous five ships sank due to incompetence yet you repeat the error enthusiastically..
It’s not hard to make a case against most managers, they have a talent for cock ups but while the owners are usually gullible, the fans aren’t.
You can’t blame fans for being wary as all clubs have a history of believing some gobshite baffling and hypnotising the board with his past achievements and England Cap (under 10’s, 2 appearances) and they fall for the patter…. resulting in the realisation he couldn’t manage a Subbuteo team.
Green managers are a gamble, but it’s down to a club doing their research and using reliable contacts instead of adopting this ‘lets’s give the job to Gary Bloke’, failed manager x 7 and great after dinner speaker and apply industrial standards instead of old boy standards.
Football is the only business where you’re allowed to run the ship onto the rocks and no one will try to stop you before it’s too late.

If it's a choice out of Williamson and Grayson, I know who I'd prefer and it's not the man who has years of experience

What makes it worse are the massive salaries and payoffs for failure ,, so you can have managers going from club to club and failing at every one and making a very good living
