Sad news indeed. He was a pioneer with the Hacienda and the Factory label set the standard for independent labels. He was a good person and could always laugh at himself, a strength sadly lacking in many. RIP Tony.
Will have to re watch 24hr Party People.

The guy was a legend if somewhat niave; none of the bands were contracted for example and as for the Hacienda; apart from very few nights it always lost buckets of money. He was undoubtedly an original thinker and a real innovator though up there on the John Peel level if you like.

The world is a lesser place without the man.
